I'm one of the biggest Dake supporters on this board, but I don't see how this is even a question.

Given Dake's struggles at times during this year, I'll take the 2010 Metcalf.

They both pooped on Molinaro. Metcalf more frequently though.

I think a really awesome tournament might have us elevating Dakes status a bit higher than it should be. The kid is incredible, don't get me wrong, and what he's done as a true fresh and soph are baffling. However, he's not on Metcalfs level right now.

Pace would become a big issue for Dake, and he wouldn't be able to catch his breath on top like he could against other guys. I think the Calf wears him out and wins by a TD or two.

If the beefed up 2011 ncaa finals Dake shows up, that's one tough match for Metcalf. I still give it to Metcalf but not by much, he grinds out the win, something like 3-2 or 4-2.

If the 2011 weight-cutting, sometimes gassing, inconsistent Dake shows up, a major or a pin is happening. I'll say major.

I agree with Oldfart in that there are really two (11) Dakes. The one that received a 4th seed and the one that manhandled the runner-up in the finals. Regardless I do think Metcalf still wins in the end. I think he is a little better from neutral and I haven't seen many people that can ride Metcalf.

My vote is for Metcalf as well. He struggles most (if you can say most) with fast, slick wrestlers--Caldwell & Jenkins. I realize that his final results against Jenkins were always lop-sided; but on 2 occasions Jenkins started out with a nice lead that he couldn't hold because he was out-conditioned by Metcalf (I'll bet that Jenkins took Metcalf down more than anyone else outside of Caldwell). Dake's style is not like that I think Metcalf handles him. I realize that Palmer's style is different and he did beat him once at the Big 10's. But that was a match that Metcalf was winning and basically lost the bout on 1 flurry that could have gone either way.

Don't want to get into a Metcalf pissing match, but Metcalf led Bubba by the end of the first period in, I believe, 3 of their 4 matches, or 4 of 5, can't remember exactly how many they had. Bubba twice had a lead early in the first period, but not sure if you can totally blame it on conditioning in the first period. Metcalf usually ran itu p by the end due to conditioning, but he also often controlled early, too.
Jacob Schlottke---Gone too soon, and the world is a little less bright because of it. RIP, brother.

A big part of why Palmer beat Metcalf was being able to ride him. Dake is at least as good on top, particularly if we are talking about a match he weighed in 8 hours before. Metcalf probably still wins though because he will get a TD and won't get turned.
