Wright at 197 does not compute. I think he gets worked over at 97.

I like Ruth to stay at 174, I just don't know how much Wright could bulk, I know he is tall and everything but his shoulders are not very broad. Not sure how much weight can be added to his frame just a thought

Historically 43 of 80 NCAA DI team title winners have repeated, (54% interesting). Btw PSU is also the 6th team to have won 2 or more team titles.

PSU loses 1 pt from Pataky & 6 from Alton (RS).

PSU's best line up next year would be:

125 Nico (Martelotti, Morgan or Waters RS)
    133 Long
141 Sherlock (Alton RS see if he can stay at 141, Frey RS)
    149 Frank
    157 Taylor
    165 Cowburn
    174 Ruth
    184 Wright
197 Syrek (if he can stay healthy, maybe Steadman ditto, Ruggear RS & moves up, we'll see in June)
    285 Wade

I think Nico & Cowburn score more then 7 points combined at next year's NCAAs but I think that they will need more then the 107 they scored this year to win it.

One thing to remember PSU won't have the home town crowd in St Louis unless there is a LARGE MIGRATION....I think that StL is within 4 hour drive from IC & 8 hours from Stillwater. It's 14 hours from State College.

Fortunately I am a PSU fan living in Omaha, just a little 7 hour scoot for me, then again I am only one man

Assuming AA RS's, this is their best possible lineup. Natty champs again with this one.

I agree with most of what you said KR--we likely will need more than 107 points next year. But then again, I don't see any team making huge strides over this year's performance. Yes Iowa will have Byers--but I'm not sure he'll do a great deal better than Luke Lofthouse's 5th. Gambrall will have to do well to equal his 3rd. But Iowa does have a way of bringing guys along as the year goes along.

In terms of PSU's best team--either Nico or Martelloti at 125 should get more than Pataky's 1 point as you said
141--I'm not sure if Sherlock beats Pearsall. I had thought he would this year, but he didn't. Pearsall is a big 133 pounder and improved a great deal between his fresh and soph years. He's also a pinner. It's not clear to me which would win out there.
157--I understand it's pretty sure that DT is moving up to 165. That would make it in my mind between D Alton and Vollrath. Not sure who to pick there either.
197--I don't know who Syrek is. I suspect McIntosh may be our best chance for points here, unless QW moves up. I hope Ruth stays at 174.

We do need to get another heavyweight to replace Wade after next year.

My understanding is that Taylor said he was moving up to '65 before he got stuck by Jenkins. That, and Mr. Howe the BADGER might be forcing Taylor to rethink.

    Penn State has ????? at 125, 157 and 197.
CS will have to RS Luke Frey (141/149). I'm sure he would like RS Nico Megaludis (125/133) and Morgan McIntosh (184/197). He may not have the luxury of RSing MacIntosh. Frank Martellotti proved highly capable at 125 and hopefully he has straightened out the his classroom issue, it would give CS some flexibility.

Taylor has said he's going 165 next season (presumably he doesn't get an Olympic waiver) Either Vollrath will drop down to 157 or Dylan Alton will move up. I doubt Alton will get down to 141, but it's possible. That will enable Luke Frey to RS. Unless Campo commits, I think we may be seeing MacIntosh in the line-up next year. I'd prefer to see him have a year to grow into the weight class. No way is Q moving up his speed at 184 offsets his incomparable strength. He needs the muscle and lots more of it to compete at 197. With Q staying put so too does Ruth.

    125 - Martellotti or Megaludis
    133 - Long
    141 - D Alton or Frey
    149 - Molinaro
    157 - Vollrath or D Alton
    165 - Taylor
    174 - Ruuuuuuuuuth
    184 - Wright
    197 - MacIntosh
    285 - Wade

Pataky, Alton and Wade did not gain any advancement points of significance. Wade will definitely come out in 2011 on a tear and he will AA. The question becomes can they score at 125 and 157.

Q drive the bus this year and bumped the points above what was seeded going in. As much as PSU out performed the projected points total, Cornell receded. They're losing Grey and Lewnestoon. I expect to see much more production from Simaz and Bozak.
Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.

Can Penn State fans enjoy this one moment to bask in this sunshine that we've been waiting for since 1953 before we start talking 2, 3, 4...? It's bad enough that people are saying all kinds of things to supress this great time for us fans.

    2011 National Champions!!!! Whooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
