Default Thoughts on the Gambrall situation at Iowa

Many of us here in Iowa thought if Grant had a bad showing that it would be hard for him to get back in the line-up next season with Evans stepping up to the plate. Now with his impressive finish I am curious to how this plays out. Gambrall still has his mental lapse i.e. Wright in NCAA's and Rutt at BigTen's. But Gambrall did defeat the 3, 4 and 5 seeds in the tourney. Will Evans still have a shot at Gambrall's weight? I doubt he can move up with Cayle coming in.

Evans is a 174 lber anyway. So it will be Evans and Lofthouse battling it out at 174.

I see Evans battling it out for a spot with Lofthouse at 174 next year.

Lofthouse had some success at 163 in freestyle last summer. Any chance he cuts to 165 to make room for Evans at 174?

There is going to be quite a log jam of guys if Lofthouse cuts to 165. Nick Moore/ Derek St John will most likely move up.

I was wondering if it might be a good time for Lofthouse to take his 2 year mission and come back a little heavier with Evans at 174.

I don't know what Lofthouse's weight situation is, but if he could make it to 165 he may have to contend with Nick Moore or even St. John if he decides to move up. However, I don't think Lofthouse is just going to give up and let Evans have "his" spot at 174. No matter who wins I know we will have a very good wrestler in the lineup.
