What a gutless move by Alberts. Pathetic.
I honestly couldn't even finish the article. Imagine if someone did this with a women's sport!

How hilarious is this: "and the wrestling team would need more funds to become competitive at a higher level."
What does this guy know about being successful at anything? He has failed at everything he's ever done for a career.
Job at ESPN: Fired.
NFL Career: Top 50 Biggest Busts In History of the Draft.
AD for UNO: Cuts Wrestling - Which Has Double The NCAA Titles of all other sports combined.
The bottom says - "University regents must approve the changes." - does anyone know if the regents are public or their contact information? Seems like emailing them (POLITELY) is the best bet for change, as the AD & chancellor have already made up their mind.
What gets me as much as the cutting of a sport is the way he did it. To call a team that is celebrating a national title and tell them, 'Sorry, there will be no next year' is a gutless move. Even if wrestling HAD to go, he could have handled it with some baseline amount of class and respect, which he clearly knows nothing about. Just pathetic all around.
Just read an article someone linked on flo's forum. I guess it really does come down to money, no matter what themat article said. They say they can't afford to offer 27 more football scholorships because that would mean they would have to offer more women's scholorships. Not sure what it has to do with wrestling, because like the last article, I couldn't finish reading it. Damn Title IV! But anyway, an article is up on the flo forum.
It has nothing to do with finances with wrestling no matter how he tries to spin it: "the wrestling team would need more funds to become competitive at a higher level"

The guy is out of his element as an AD, plain and simple.
