Default Will another wrestler EVER have been more vilified than...

When McD(presumably) faces Robles in the finals.

Think of all the factors in play:
No team is more hated than Iowa.
Iowa will probably need a McD win to help Iowa win the title.
Everyone LOVES Robles(two straight years of standing ovations) and will want him to win all the more.

How hostile/loud will the crowd be against Iowa if McD wins, and conversely how nuts will people be if Robles wins?

Johny Hendricks is outraged that you're forgetting about his junior and senior years.

For all that Iowa people complain about how much everyone "hates" them they also neglect the fact that they're also the largest singular fan base in the country. The 125 final may wind up one of the most polarizing matches in recent memory in terms of everyone in the crowd REALLY rooting for one participant or the other, but win or lose I can't see McDonough catching really much of anything in the way of hate.

He's not really a hateable guy anyway.

they definitely set the stage for it to happen. Still cant believe the returning national champ got a 2 seed. even though Robels is undefeated. Mc D's only loss comes to the #3 guy in the nation, that he has beaten twice since.

I'm not sure I understand this logic. There are many examples of defending national champs not getting the top seed the next year. Didn't Jaggers from Ohio St, the year after winning nationals, get a #6 seed? Of course, he did win it again!

Jaggers is a great example of a guy who didn't have a great year YET BECAUSE of his National championship got a 3 seed. Not a 6.

Huge difference here Tom. Jaggers went into Nationals with something like 7 losses as the returning national champ. But, in the end the Jagger Bomb comes out at Tournament time.

Iowa fans and their dominance are hated like the Yankees, to deny that is silly. America doesnt like pure dominance like what Iowa does unless its against foreign countries like the Olympics. I think Hate is a strong word, but besides Iowa fans if this match happens the entire arena will be against McD.

Still dont know why all the talk is about McD and Precin though basically giving Robles a pass to the finals. This scenario assumes that Robles is in the finals, and that is NOT a lock. He will still have to beat very good guys to get there just like McD will as well.

Villified is not the right word, since McD does not envourage hatred the way someone like Hendricks did, but everyone who is not a Hawkeye will be pulling for Robles like crazy if that final happens.

Well if Precin (or somebody else) beats McD, even the Iowa fans should be cheering for Robles

Yeah, Hendricks is upset you'd even THINK that. Sanders stomping Robles and Thorns antics probably rank right up there too.
