And Smith's year isn't all that good to begin with anyway--there's just not much there. I guess if I were on the committee I'd want an honest appraisal from Boise State's coaches about his condition.
I was actually wondering about that earlier. Is the committee allowed to contact coaches to ask about the conditions of injured wrestlers? I hope so, because there are cases every year of guys getting hurt at their conference tourney, which may have cost them an auto-qualifying spot (but will be good in two weeks) - or who got a spot but won't be able to wrestle.

It really is disappointing to see Smith in this state. I just can't fathom why he didn't take a RS this year to get healed up.

Bosak has only lost to Honeycutt and Hamlin. I would think his head to head win over Rutt would be an important factor but seeding is often hard to predict.

Looking at 141, Kellen Russell is the clear number 1 obviously.

    1. Kellen Russell
    2. Mike Thorn
    3. Jimmy Kennedy
    4. Boris Novachkov
    5. Montell Marion

I'm not really sure how 2-4 will shake out, but I think Boris gets left behind Kennedy and Thorn because he lost his only match against one of the top guys (even if it was #1, he doesn't have any wins over the elite guys).

    6. Andrew Alton

I think he falls pretty naturally into that spot.

    7. Tyler Nauman
    8. Todd Schavrien
    9. Zack Bailey
    10. Cody Cleveland
    11. Cole Von Ohlen
    12. Matt Mariacher

I just copied these last ones from Intermat's rankings.

Two weeks ago no one on Earth would pick that but now it seems possible. I like LeBlanc to finish with a bang and win it over Honeycutt. Seeds in this weight I don't think matter at all it is really anyones who comes up big an unseeded guy could be in the final and it wouldn't surprise too many.
I agree. Wright proved at Big Ten's how little seeds will matter at NCAAs for this weight class. It's almost always the case that they don't matter in terms of determining the champion (although that disregards match-up problems), but in this instance seeds probably don't even matter for determining the eight AA's.

Gold, your seeds look right to me for 141. It's not an easy call on where to put Novachkov but he'll probably be 4th. I assume that his medical forfeit win over Kennedy will not factor into seeding?

Boris isn't the 2? 1 loss(to Russell) and a win over Kennedy en route to a midlands championship. I think he should be 2.
To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.

Kennedy lost to Russell twice, Thorn 3 times. I don't see the logic Gold.

Kennedy did not lose to Boris, it was a medical FF before the match even started.

Coach John indicated that the At Large and Seeding Committees would have all of the information about the nature and extent of Morrison's injury (staph) when deciding to give him a bid and his seed. Presumably they would have that for other wrestlers as well. I feel for Smith, but I would have a hard time giving it to a guy who has been hurt all season.
