doesn't bode well for dake in nationals. caldwell should be the solid favorite there.
dake's been hot and cold. he stalled his way to victory vs. molinaro and lost to vinson. then he looks great in dominating mason in the semi's only to come up short in the finals. i think 149 is pretty awesome this year. i still expect caldwell in the finals, but not sure if dake will be the guy standing across. i'm also intrigued to see how caldwell vs. molinaro plays out.
The question is how do you seed it now? I find it very hard to think that the "powers that be" put Dake & Caldwell on the same side, but I think Molinaro earned #2 and there are a bunch of guys you can make a case for at #3 over Dake (LaValley, Chamberlain, Parks) - should be interesting.
End of the day I think Dake gets #3
I agree, Caldwell didn't look very good but I still think come NCAA's he's going to shine. Molinaro earned the #2 for sure, but I do still think they will give Dake the #3 and Lavalley the #4 then Chamberlain and Parks #5 and #6...Dake just isn't the same guy this year, could be one of those years where the guy (Dake) is the returning Champ and only winds up AAing and a low AA at that after what I've seen I mean a 4th or 5th is a real possibility for him. And while AAing is quite the accomplishment no matter where you finish, for a returning champ anything less than winning another is a huge let down.
I think LeValley's gonna win the whole thing. He can slow Caldwell down and frustrate him.
He can certainly slow this version of Caldwell down. Let's hope Darrion can get close to even 80% for NCAAs because it will make for a much more exciting bracket.
gobigred pointed out to me that we might see LeValley get the #2 seed. He only has one loss all year and just beat Dake.
