When was this year ever mentioned by myself or Zapp?

Grips mentioned "this year" in his initial post, and Zapp responded only with matches that Dake won "this year" in his post.

I assumed it followed pretty easily that we were sticking with what each guy has done this year.

I think people are being a bit myopic about just how good Darrion has been and how good some of the guys were that he has beaten. That's more/less the reason I posted those wins. Obviously I was being a smart alec to a certain extent but it's just funny to me that some people still need Darrion to prove himself after what he has done in his career.

I'd agree with that, I think DC is the most talented college wrestler. I think he beats Dake with no problem, probably a major.

I think the question with Darrion is simply what kind of shape is he in (injury-wise and stamina) not having wrestled most of this year. If he's at 100% I would consider him to be pretty close to a lock. But his health status has been somewhat of a mystery this year.

I agree with Tom, if he is 100% mentally and physically, meaning his injuries are healed, and he is in tip top shape, then I also think he is virtually a lock and that he will major Dake. Which I don't think is too much of a stretch after seeing what he was able to do on the international level and in the NCAA Finals against Metcalf. Once again it comes down to how healed his injuries are and how good of shape he is in.

No one's mentioning 141 or is that just a GIVEN?

I hope that Russell, Marion, Thorn, Alton, Kennedy make it to the Quarters then throw in Boris to boot along with Bailey. Out of all of that I would want to see Alton vs Marion/Thorn again & Boris vs Kennedy (QFs) Boris vs Thorn (SFs) but I expect Russell vs Marion in the finals.

@ 174 it might end being Lewnes vs Ruth again.

184 LeBlanc vs Rutt if Smith can't go

285 Rey vs Flores Flores has 2 losses this year to Rey by a total of 5 points. 285 has only 6 Seniors out of the top 20. All the same guys will be back next year.

Even is Smith goes, KR, if you saw him at Pac 10s, you wouldn't give him a snowballs chance in you-know-where.

Smith looked terrible at the Pac 10's. I was sitting about two rows up from the floor, right in front of his mat and I couldn't believe how bad he was hurting. I'm a big OSU fan and I knew going into that match that Smith was hurt pretty bad but I was still amazed to see that Arand beat him.
