He looked really good at 184 at the northern quad. I, personally think they are resting him for the big ten season and you'll see sonny at 174 and eidenschenk at 84.

I also think, but have no proof, that Yohn beats eidenschenk after watching them both wrestle different kids. But thats just my opinion.

From what I remember hearing/seeing you'd have to start removing limbs from Sonny to get him down to 74.

He was an 89 pounder his senior year of high school, and then spent some time up at 97 last year when he was redshirting.

I think he meant resting Sonny and letting Eidenshenk take the early brunt of the schedule and then move Sonny in during the big ten season to 184. Shenk moved down to 184 I had heard and McPhail should hold down 197 this year.

Dude he said "you'll see Sonny at 174 and Eidenschink at 184."

Thats a direct quote, I don't think I misinterpreted it.

Sonny was in the program at 174 for the northern quad and wrestled his only match there at 184. He didn't look like an overly big 84lber. I think he's taking his time getting to 174, but its not like you'll have to remove limbs or anything.

I would disagree with that. Sonny is not going to 174. I guess I thought maybe that they meant Cody but put Sonny as I am sure it is easy to confuse the names/weights.

Jensens, my bad, I read it wrong.

All that being said, why can't the Gophers seem to put together there upper weights at any given time? I know Geiger is here now but god, we have suffered through some horrid 197 lb'ers lately and it seems we either have a good heavy and a good 184 but nothing at 174 and 197 and then they alternate. Guess I am being greedy.

I wouldnt exactly call dretsch nothing...

He never was able to put it all together but he was arguably a top 10 guy for two years and a solid starter for all four.

You are right about the upperweights though, it seems we have had a killers row down bottom for many years now with ness-reiter-rivera-schlatterx2 and now sanders-ness-thorn-noone-saf

We've had a ton of studs at the upperweights but we've been lacking a 123 or 1234 punch for a while

Gofer has a "thing" about Dretsch since he never wound up AA'ing.

The guy was a low level recruit out of high school but still started all four years, won 100+ matches and wound up a Big 10 Finalist.

You are right, he had a nice career. The reality is that he probably maxed out his potential and went as far as his talent would take him. In those 100+ wins, I just wanted him to get one single leg takedown.

I never saw him progress but it could be argued that he was wrestling at his highest potential his whole career.
