One guy spit at/on the police following a fight and another hip tossed a female cop to the ground and had to be tasered twice after a fight. I consider spitting less severe than tossing a cop to the ground but thats just me. Byers ended up getting busted harder probably due to his deal not being right by campus like Long's was. The police in the byers case could care less who he is in the situation. The facts of the incidents clearly show Byers's situation to be no worse than Long's. I'm not sure what kind of a cop out it is saying GM was more strict than ISU, they booted him for more or less the same thing so it looks like a fact to me.
I think the point is that point is is that you have 3 kids who have committed crimes in society's eyes. (The drunk driving might be considered worse simply because you are putting other people at risk.) And I am betting that because that ALL 3 were ATHLETES they were given special considerations to change their lives instead of going to jail. Without that special consid I would bet that there would have been some jail time somewhere for some of them.

Yet there are voices in the Hawkeye camp that see them as NOT ONLY different situations BUT also as a justification to continue vilifying Sanderson. It is a hypocrisy that transcends team bias. As one poster on the Hawk board basically said if it happens in IC its cool if it happens in SC it's not.

I wish I had enough time to bookmark all the idiotic crap PSU fans have said this year, but I don't really care to because a few idiot fans on a message board don't represent the entire fan base. The same can be said for Iowa though you would hate to admit that.

Drunk driving puts other people at risk but beating up cops doesnt? I would guess the cops don't feel that way. The funny thing is that the openeing post was made by kr and instead of just telling us that he's going to Iowa he had to turn this into an all out assault on Iowa fans and how they react, BEFORE THEY REACTED. His obsession with it is a little bit tiresome and sad. He's on just about every board I read telling people that Iowa fans are reacting horribly over this because of one or two posts that he's read on the Iowa board. Newsflash numbnuts, some Iowa fans are bigger Iowa appologists than you are a Penn st appologist.

I think drunk driving is the worst of the 3 simply because of the magnitude of it. It's simply more dangerous than hip tossing someone or spitting on someone. In all honesty while spitting is by far the most gross of the 3 offenses it's probably the least worse of the 3. To say that there should have been jail time is really a matter of opinion (which team you support/how strong your morals are), but I've seen and heard of many people getting charged with DUI's and there's been no jail time (or no more than an overnighter) and none of those people were anything special. The hip toss is really the one that I thought would get the jail time just because you physically directly assaulted a police officer, and a female officer none the less. Anyway, I really don't think any of them necessarily deserved jail time, and I'm also not amazingly shocked that none of them got jail time, and I don't think it had anything to do with what they do for their school. I have to agree with Herkey, I think some are just trying to take away the fact that Iowa is getting a big transfer and turn it a quite bit more that Iowa is getting some awful trouble maker, in my eyes he's just a darn good wrestler who got a little rowdy after a few too many.
