I think Brandon Hatchett has effectively ended the ages old "which state has better wrestling, Florida or New Jersey?" Debate.
Jacob Schlottke---Gone too soon, and the world is a little less bright because of it. RIP, brother.

Having been there, I have to disagree. A lot of really, really conservative and boring wrestling. Very few serious shots on the feet by either squad. Almost no attempts to turn an opponent. A few good flurries and scrambles, but a very few. Rutgers had to be very disappointed in the performances of their highly-ranked wrestlers. Scott Winston, for example, showed nothing. I don't think he made a serious attempt at scoring anything other than an escape the entire match. Mario Mason looked gassed in the first period. Nobody on either team scored more than 7 points (six if you discount riding time) or got even close to a backpoint? A big showcase wasted.

The match was lost with Mason and Winston. Those were definitely winnable matches, and took all the momentum out of the HUGE win my Fusco. Mason didnt want it neither did winston. Loved what Wagner did. Really thought he had the points there, but thats wrestling. Caruso was one of the few wrestlers for RU who wrestled with a purpose, along with Fusco, Langel Wagner and Russo. You cant win a duel when only half your team is hungry. Big disappointment for the RU squad, just proves they're just not there yet. Hopefully they can bounce back with a big showing at EIWA's..

What was really puzzling was the way everything went. Through 6 matches, I think only one "favored" wrestler won. Plus, Rutgers had everything going their way after two matches - win at 125 in a toss-up match and Fusco's upset. Now four ranked wrestlers coming up and ..... fizzle.

"...........and took all the momentum out of the HUGE win my Fusco."

Mammoth win by Fusco considering both he an Cagnina went to the same HS and were workout partners. Goodale bumped him up to avoid bonus points, but Fusco probably knows more about Cagnina than anyone else in the NCAA and was able to pull of off the upset.
