I think Long pulls this one out. He's been wrestling great ever since the Ramos match woke him up a bit. Graff's a tough, tough opponent though so it won't be a surprise if he comes up short. But Long proved last year that he is capable of beating anyone in the country on any given day, and I think he finally goes back to his underhook/knee pick for the deciding takedown.

Other than that I don't think there is much room for any other upsets, given the way Wade has been wrestling against tough opponents.

KR--Do you have inside information that Vollrath is going at 165? I would think that whoever goes against Wisconsin at that weight would go at the Big 10's as well. Though Vollrath did well at 157 he's not shown the results up a weight, so I would be surprised if he went at the Big 10's. Otherwise I mostly agree with your predictions. However I think Ruth will get the MD this time--I'm not so sure about Molinaro. I'm a little worried about Hwt, but still give it to Wade.

Molinaro has hardly scored (if he's even done it at all) bonus points since the Southern Scuffle.

You really think he's going to major someone as good as Cole Schmitt?

Cael Sanderson Radio Show 02/16/2011 (LINK) See the 3rd paragraph...RE Vollrath.

FM is 24-2 & has 13 matches where he scored bonus this year. That means in his wins this year he has averaged 3.83 team points per victory. That is almost a major per win. Ed has scored 130 points in his 28 wins to average 4.6 team points win. Btw, DT is averaging a perfect 5.0.

I think FM is due, that's all. Cam will be ok. He is proving to be a money guy for the team. Even though he lst to Bugenhagen last year, this time in front of the home crowd & senior day he'll step up.

Well Shane, though I can't really tell exactly from the post I am not sure whether this is an ACTUAL question or just a rhetorical question which represents your disdain & arrogance for anything that goes against your personal idea of conventional wisdom, I will treat it as the former. I say this, despite the fact that you pretty much tried to paint me as an imbecile when I predicted DT would TF Sponseller only to see DT win by 14. Maybe that's just how you are in general.

I appreciate you often in depth analysis & feel you are mostly spot on but I don't remember a time where you allowed for a gut feeling to sway your your analytical thought process. Things don't always go as planned, do they?

While Schmitt may have a top ten ranking & RPI this year, he has lost this year 2xs to Loupy by a combined score of 24-10, lost to Janzten who Molinaro's back up beat down & last year was decked by Levi Jones, teched by Mike Thorn & lost to Adam Lynch. Frank does bonus in over half of his victories this year including 2 majors over returning AA Gillespie which doesn't look like much now on paper but a returning AA is still what it is.

Frank has had a recent string of wins where he didn't manage his time well when he had a chance to get the bonus. I just think he is due. Though he very well might end up with another 7 point win. So I guess it depends on which guy shows up. I think that on Friday in front of a sell out crowd, last dual of the year & senior night that the emotion will give FM a lift.

In all likelihood just as much as you, just with a more realistic viewpoint.
