Very close, very hard-fought dual. Great effort by the Gophers.

Proud of the effort of everyone out there today.

The only person that just didn't seem to understand the situation he was in was Nelson. He has to be the aggressor. He has to push the pace, he has to make Raising wrestle his match. That being said unfortunately (I am seeing NOW) is that Nelson doesn't HAVE a match. He is content to push and pull on guys he gives 30-40 lbs against when he needs to create angles, change levels and use his length against guys. That was disappointing to me. Other than that it seems like every guy on that mat on both sides came ready to wrestle today. Hawk fans will give 174 Lofthouse some grief but he's VERY close to winning that match and wrestled pretty damn well for 6 minutes really.

It gives me hope that if we turn around Thorn/Marion and Sonny had his wind, we are right there with Iowa. To Iowa's credit, they ALL have wrestled hard and seem to have improved more from November to February than any other team.

    Great dual.

Where's Ben Berhow when you need him?

Well again, Nelson had a chance to be a REAL hero after the efforts that his team put in against PSU and Iowa but I guess the reality is that they are all pretty evenly matched. He just needs to get some kind of a go to takedown as I know Jensens has said over and over again.

More troubling than his lack of go to takedown is his seeming inability to get up off the bottom that has cropped up in his last two matches.

I can understand getting ridden out by Wade as he is a beast on top-but Rasing ? I wonder what the seeds will look like at HWT in the big 10 ? Wade is 7-1 ? Alcala 7-1, Nelson 4-3, Bug 5-3 ? Rasing 5-3-Apland 5-3 ? Berhow 1-0 ..THE only record I am sure of is Alcala's.
