Why is it okay to say someone is bad from his feet, but you get called out if you say he has a week mind? It's all opinion. Wrestlers pride themselves on being of strong mind. It is a big part of what makes you a good wrestler, just like a good set up or a nice single leg. Some guys can work through the pain and wrestle with significant injury and some cant. If you cant it is something you need to work on, just like you would work on halfs and chicken wings if you werent so good from the top position.
I think some of you are thinking that Chop is personally attacking Wright by saying he doesnt think he is tough minded. I think he's just saying it's not the strongest part of his game. The douche bag comment was uncalled for Jensen.
Dude, there's a big difference between making a criticism of a guys wrestling skills and whether he's "mentally weak" and essentially saying he's faking pain.
So I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this. I think QW is mentally weak and you don't think so. I never said QW was faking pain but I do think he was mentally beat last night. My opinion vs the rest of the you and I stand by my observation.
I didn't wrestle in college but did wrestle in the High School Nationals with a broken left foot. I know personally what it is like to wrestle elite opponents in pain and it isn't fun, but that said it takes a very mentally tough person to wrestle and win while in pain. Again watching QW against Pitt he didn't look like he was hurting to bad and last night it appeared he couldn't even move his arm.
If you don't wrestle through pain then you aren't a wrestle. I'm sure at this level, everyone has some dings and bruises that they have to wrestle through. Everyone. I didn't wrestle in college but I was an athlete...you're almost never 100%.
QW put what he had out there...not 100% but that was impossible. Give the kid some credit for not backing down.
And, in case you were wondering...I won a state AAU title in 3rd grade. Look at those credentials.
“We needed something at ’84,” Sanderson said. “Quentin is an All-American. We needed him to go out there and give us his best effort.”
Seems that QW's coach might be thinking the same thing I am. I read this as Cael not thinking QW put his best effort on the mat.
