It's always only been about Nationals. The rest of the season is for bragging rights and pride.

And there is your argument for a NCAA National Dual tourney.

This is a true statement. To say that the regular season doesnt mean anything is really not accurate in my mind. The regular season means quite bit like you said for pride, and also for seeding, but if you peak during the regular season and lay an egg at Nationals the regular season was all for not.

To most Iowa fans though NCAAs are what its all about thats for sure.

Badcat, your post about the top 10 was actually very funny. I believe that with every stereotype there is some truth or there wouldnt be a stereotype, but also that most Iowa fans that I know are not as bad as they are made out to be as well.........except for Herky......

March is what matters to all the wrestlers. I think most of them say all the duals and tournys during the year are just a part of training for the Grand Daddy in March. People don't remember much about the regular season but they all remember what happens at NCAA's!

BB has regular season that creates the seedings for the Conference Tournament. Maybe the NCAA should look into doing something like that for wrestling Dual championship. That way the regular season matters.

I'm all for an actual National Dual Tournament. It sounds like the NCWA might take a shot at formalizing the entry process and maybe down the road working with the NCAA to make it a team championship event. The article below got some coverage in our paper, not sure if it got much national press.

    The highlights:
The NWCA wants to overhaul its Division I duals by creating an event comparable to the NCAA basketball tournament. The event would include a 16-team field comprised of 11 conference champions and five at-large selections.
The tournament would start the second Sunday of February at four regional sites. It would conclude with college wrestling?s Final Four a week later.
Coaches voiced unanimous support for the changes during the NWCA?s annual convention last August. Moyer said the new format could be implemented as early as next season.
