I don't know if you guys could tell or not, but I was in the front row and St. John looked massive compared to Welch. Welch looked like an average sized 149, while St. John looked like a very big 157/mid-sized 165.

Anyway, my point is that the first of St. John's third period takedowns, to me, looked more like St. John had the strength advantage and ended up muscling that one.

I wouldn't go that far. He was 2-2 at NCAAs his true freshman year, redshirted last season and is now 20-3 to date this year. Seems to be improving to me and quite well, too.

Gotta disagree here, if McD beats Precin at Big Tens I think he gets the #1 seed even if Robles stays undefeated...

I got to watch Northwestern wrestle a few weeks ago and I thought Welch looked pretty darned tough. I was not entirely shocked that he lost to St. John - St. John has been steadily improving as the year goes by-but still...damn it! And Precin...getting pinned! PINNED! I am in mourning. I've placed ashes on my forehead and they will remain there until I see Andrew Alton and David Taylor take bloody revenge on Sunday night. And if they fail...looks like I'll have to explain to my co-workers on Monday why I've got soot between my eyes.

As dumb as it sounds, I was very impressed with Precin - he was in control the entire match and even had McD backing up at times. McD showed a champions heart by pulling off the big move though.

Welch is really quick, couldn't finish his good shots and got scored on by the bad ones. I agree with Tofurky, St. John is a very tall 157 - he looks like he cuts quite a bit of weight. I'd be shocked if he wasn't at 165 next year... Wrestled very smart though and is clearly very tough to score on

    This guy is an idiot....

I also have to say that Northwestern was BRUTAL on bottom - Iowa isn't known as a riding team but they dominated the top position last night. Seemed like all of them got riding time points. I was especially disappointed with Friedly, for a guy who is so good on top he looked like he had no clue once he got reversed. Didn't move at all then quickly got pinned, it was ugly...

DSJ will likely be at 165 next year; should probably be there this year.

Maybe, I think that'll be a major league screw job for Robles though if that winds up being the case.

Its not like he's wrestled a light schedule winning Vegas and Reno, and going to VA Duals.
