Solid win for freshman Corey Mock included 2 NF twice and several stalling calls on dong
Self explanatory
Who is Mock?
I just looked him up. Strange loss.
Cory is CD's son-he is like 22-7 now-he had Cathell beaten twice and has improved every week-the kid is going to be a great one. Look at the NLO results-he fought back and won like 7 matches that day- he is the future of UNC wrestling.
Not really a strange loss. And it wasn't a fluke either- Corey handled him. Gave up a reversal with 2 secs left in the 2nd but other than that he controlled the match.Quote:

On the flip side, scotton went 0-2 on the day
For an unranked, Mock is one of the best. 4x NC state champ, spent all of last year training at the OTC, and son of C.D. Mock. I think he has some bright accomplishments in his future...
Strange perhaps only because of my ignorance. I don't know that I've heard of Mock before today and I consider(ed) Dong a top 5. I looked at Mock's record and he has several losses to unranked guys. I'm sure his future is bright, and I don't mean anything against the guy, but anytime a top 5 guy loses an unranked guy that I personally haven't heard of, it's a little strange to me.
I look forward to seeing what this guy does in the future, though. It's nice to see southern schools get some very talented guys.
Understood ;)
Mock wasn't even projected to start this season, but due to injuries found himself in that position and has really done well. He's really good on the mat. I had figured today that Dong would do better on his feet, but when Mock got an early takedown in the 1st period I knew that was it...
You mention seeing the southern schools do well -- interestingly enough, 2 out of UNC's 3 wins today came from kids from the state of NC.
