Default The Vermonster beats #1 Leblanc 7-6

Lehigh's Robert Hamlin defeated Wyoming's #1 ranked Joe Leblanc 7-6 in the VA Dual quarterfinal match up today.

Both wrestlers swapped TDs & escapes in the 1st pd.

In the 2nd Leblanc got an escape to make it 4-3.

In the 3rd Hamlin started on bottom got the escape & TD to take a 6-4 lead when Leblanc got the reversal tying it up. Seeing that he couldn't get the RT Leblanc cut him & Hamlin fought off all the remaining TD attempts to secure the win.

Hamlin adds this to his impressive & similar hard fought win over PSU's Quentin Wright earlier in the season. He is currently ranked 6th by Intermat.

With his only loss a quality loss to Rutt, I can see Hamlin at #2 or #3 next week. Great win.

Depending on Smith's outcomes tomorrow-184- should look like this ,IMO:
    1-Smith
    2-Hcutt
    3 Bosak
    4-Hamlin
    5-LeBlanc
Remember when this was supposed to be a 3 man show ?? Hamlin was not drafted in our fantasy league of ''experts'' until the Supp.

I actually don't remember that. I remember it was supposed to be a 6 man show and things just kind of whittled away at those 6 guys. Kilgore went to 197. Perry didn't pan out to be what we thought he would be. Wright had a slow start and then got injured. Smith hasn't wrestled all year.

Leblanc and Honeycutt are the two of those Big 6 left at the weight.

I don't know that Bosak should be ranked ahead of Hamlin; I think Hamlin's set of wins was better than Bosak's even before the win over Leblanc. I can see how Travis Rutt makes things interesting, though.

No, gofer. Vais has assured me that Hamlin is not a title contender and he cannot be sold on that notion.

All the more reason to think its possible. Kirk Smith coming back might change things a little but I think Kirk has some dust to knock off first.
