The PSU wrestler was Dan Russell, he became the crowd favorite that year at Carver. It was something very special!

The way it was told to me, Ray bought a ticket to Bulgaria to learn Greco Roman. He didn't make any plans such as hotel arrangements. He just showed up one day at a Bulgarian wrestling club and hoped they would allow him to practice and give him a floor to sleep on. Which they did.

I remember reading a story about Brinzer, where he was down in Cuba with a bunch of the Greco guys, and Rulon took his passport for the duration of the trip because he knew Ray would lose it.

On the last day they were there, before they went to the airport to go home, Rulon gave it back to him. However, they get to the airport, and it turns out Ray, by accident, or maybe on purpose had indeed lost his passport.

I think the story said he spent two weeks in Cuba waiting for a new one.
