Howe was underneath WAAAY too long. If he keeps riding time under 1 minute advantage I think that will give him more time to push pace and wear him out. Burroughs had a much better gameplan.

Go Hawkeyes.
If I'm Howe, I work like crazy on my upper body techniques: tie ups, underhooks, maybe even a throw or too. Easier said than done because Burroughs is so strong as well as fast, but Howe needs to control the ties and look to score from there.
I recall that Howe wrestled Chamasurlaev in a dual meet a while back. Chama is one of the best- and most agressive- freestylers in the world today, and he scored only 2 points (1-0. 1-0). What Burroughs did was really impressive.
Yes. Ties to singles, and stay out of space at all cost. Tie him up all day. I don't see throws working though.
But, I think Burroughs is going to improve on this match in any subsequent battles. As long as he doesn't go into MMA, I think that he is our guy heading into the future.
JB has said his goal is to be world champion and NOT to go MMA . I was VERY impressed by his riding ability . I thought it would be TD then cut for 3 periods-never envisioned RT.
I was AMAZED at Howe's size. From his freshman year in High School til last year you kinda had to look for any real muscle mass but he is HUGE this year. Also, a lot meaner than he used to be .
That 1st TD JB was on both of his knees & got under an already low Howe. To then pick Howe straight up from there isn't just strength but flexibility as well.
Howe was smirking & saying in the interview that that didn't effect him mentally but I think all that hand fighting & head sapping was Howe showing his frustration. JB got in his head RIGHT THERE. To his credit it was Howe's persistence on the edge that got him his 2 TDS. Up until that point JB had not given up a TD all year.
The entire difference in the match was JB's ability to ride Howe & his speed. The 1st got him the RT, (I could feel that tightwaist pushing the air out of me!) & the 2nd got him the reversal. Sure the speed got him 2 TDS but he gave up 2 as well. Howe wasn't able to reverse JB but JB could reverse Howe. That WAS the diff.
If they meet again Howe will have to work more on the sprawls he used to counter JB's shots & breaking that tightwaist. If he does that he will have a chance.
