I thought the call for stalling were BS basically. Ruth was working the whole time to gain better control over Lewnes' legs. I saw him fighting to stop Lewnes's legs from moving while fighting off Lewnes' hand fighting upon his face. It looked like that Lewnes had no answer for Ruth's shots.

I though Ruth should have worked up a little more than he did and that he deserved a stall call or two but oh well. He controlled the match the entire time with surprising ease. This team is starting to look pretty friggin' good. They are going to be downright scary in a few years.

I can confirm that several of Cornell's wrestlers were a bit under the weather. Dake about coughed up a lung before his interview. However I'm not sure if Lewnes was one of them.

Ruth emerges as the real deal this weekend. He BEAT #1 and #2, no fluke, no luck, just out wrestled them. Now does that mean he'll win NCAA's? Who knows, but he's going to be one of the top guys going in. Btw I can't imagine a 174 in the country having a bigger gas tank. That is what impressed me the most about his weekend.

Both Cornell and PS impressed me this weekend. In the past, it seems like Cornell had a tendency to fold in pressure situations and I expected this when they were tested by PS but they held tough. Dake's win against Frank the Tank is a good example, a Cornell guy wrestling a tough, physical guy and gutting out the win where in the past a Cornell guy might have folded. On the other hand, PSU came in and showed excellent quality from top to bottom and really pushed hard for the tourney win. Ruth's win was out of left field and demonstrated well what they are getting done in the room. Overall, I thought they were the best team in the tourney.

Neither team was at 100% but hopefully both will be by the time March comes. I think these two go 1-2, but too hard to call the winner.

My question is how on earth did he lose to Mike Letts by 5.

Mack Lewnes makes Letts look silly everytime they wrestle. Although Letts has beaten Henrich everytime they wrestled.

Is it possible that Ruth is improving almost exponentially week by week? He is a guy gifted with superb strength and athletic ability, add some polishing skills a little bit at a time and this may be what happens.

Very possible. I don't know if he'll see Letts again but I know who i'd bet on this time around.

Looks like he's going to be hard to beat from here on out. I don't see him having a 2 pt match with the likes of Austin Meys again, although Meys also did well at Midlands. It's pretty crazy that Ruth could beat the top 2 guys in the country in one weekend, in this type of convincing fashion. I think everyone knew that Taylor and to a lesser degree Alton were going to do well, but I was thinking that Ruth might not even place, much less win.

Again, certainly no doubt that Ruth is an excellent wrestler and that he has probably improved leaps and bounds over the season, but I truly think that his body type was a really bad matchup for Lewnes. Not saying that it should take anything away from the win, as I also believe that Lewnes was outwrestled - just my opinion.
