“My assistant coach’s role was always temporary and I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be directly involved in our wrestling program as much as NCAA rules allow me to be,” said Gable.

So what won't NCAA rules allow him to do as asst. A.D. that he was allowed to do as asst. coach?

I think he is talking about rules regarding non-coaches as far as time or number of practices he can participate in.

I actually think very little of Brands for not standing up and saying "my program, my kids, my way"...I can't help but think that if he and Gable are trying to speak at the same time that he is going to give in to Gable or that the kids are going to turn and listen to Gable.

I may be out of line here but if I was a manager I would sure hate for someone to be over my shoulder like that.

I can see your point, but if I were a head coach somewhere even other than Iowa and Dan Gable told me to do something, I would probably do it with no questions asked if he told me it would make my team better.

I guess in a way that you are right but I would just think its getting old by now for Brands...look at it from this perspective, it Iowa does well, Gable will get alot of the credit, if they do bad, it will fall on Brands...

I wouldn't want that situation...
