Impossible. Don't you know? Opponents don't do any good things against Brent Metcalf, Brent Metcalf just dominates some more than others.

That's the Brent Metcalf philosophy of wrestling.

I am not one who thinks that metcalf will never lose again..but i think he'll never lose at the NCAA's again.

However, this is a lot of hype for a match where a guy scored not one takedown or reversal. Only escapes half of which were given to him.

I don't think this is "a lot of hype." It is one thread on a message board, and it is one thread that now has 13 posts from a total of 6 people. The thread comes after a very good match between one of college's best wrestlers and someone that most people probably didn't think would make it a good match.

And, sure, Brown didn't score any TD's, but he certainly got in deep on many of them and was probably more aggressive than Metcalf. We don't see that too often against Metcalf. So I don't think 13 posts (11 when you wrote your post) constitutes too much hype.

The major take away from this match is that if a guy can keep his intensity level as high as Metcalf, he can stay in there and wrestle. If you can't keep that intensity, you get broken and he really opens up that gap.

Metcalf is by far the superior wrestler. However, Steve Brown ante'd up 100% of the intensity that Metcalf did. Kudos to the kid for having some guts.
I wish I could kick Matt Dragon in the balls. In his Dragonballz.

I couldn't get the video to work here at work for some reason, so I am not sure that this is the same Steve Brown, but the description of his style makes me think that this is the same kid that beat Gregor Gillespie in the state semi back in high school when both were juniors. He shut GG's attack down with the hand fighting, basically tied him up and neutralized the quick no-setup shots that Gregor is known for. Then, he goes to the final and gets beat right after beating the top seed by a kid he should have beat. I'll have to see the video to be sure.

Anyway, my point is that the kid has a history of being a pain in the ass for top level kids.

I think Metcalf was stunned on that move. If you look at him coming up after Brown got away he popped into his stance with his hands in front of him, but he wasn't facing Brown and didn't seem to know where Brown was (about the 4:15 point in the video -- and yes, I know this sounds like a Zapruder film analysis at this point). Then look at his legs, they are clearly rubbery for a few seconds. I think he got his bell rung a little on the Granby.

I agree with the others that Brown fought him hard, didn't gas, and if nothing else showed that one can at least stay in it with Metcalf -- you just have to kick him in the head!

That was generally my point in starting this thread.
