    Default #3 Oklahoma State v. #11 Oklahoma Results/Discussion

This match will be held in Stillwater starting at 6pm central time on Sunday Dec. 12. The match can be viewed on cbs all-access.

    125 #7 Patterson vs. #5 Morrison
133 UR Keller vs. #1 Oliver
    141 #6 Bailey vs. #20 Silver
    149 UR N. Lester vs. #4 Parks
    157 UR M. Lester vs. #10 White
    165 #18 Nelson vs. #8 Bailey
    174 #7 Caldwell vs. #11 Benefiel
    184 #13 Schmidtke vs. # 16 Perry
197 UR Hall vs. #4 Foster
    285 #8 Fernandez vs. UR B. Rosholt/Yoder

Definetly an intruiging matchup with several good matchups. 125 looks to be the best matchup of the night b/t patterson and Morrison. 133 Can Oliver get bonus points? 141 Have to go with Bailey here and can he get bonus points? 149 slow paced wrestlers that will keep the match close. Have to go with Parks though. 157 Lester has looked great at times this year, but has definitely been inconsistent. should be a close match with white having the edge. 165 Will have high scoring Nelson vs. Rock Solid Bailey. This is a very hard match to call. Have to go with Bailey, but will the scoreboard look like 15-11 or 5-3, who knows. 174 Is another great matchup. We've seen how good Benefiel can be, but what can he do against Caldwell. 184 Schmidtke majored him earlier this season, but I have a feeling that Perry will wrestle better in Gallagher-Iba. Have to go with Schmidtke though. 197 Foster should be able to get some bonus points here. 285 Fernandez should be able to get some bonus points here vs. OSU second string.

    125 Patterson dec Morrison
    133 Oliver Mdec Keller
    141 Bailey dec Silver
    149 Parks dec Lester
    157 White dec Lester
    165 Bailey dec Nelson
    174 Caldwell dec Benefiel
    184 Schmidtke dec Perry
    197 Foster Mdec Hall
    285 Fernandez Mdec Yoder/B. Rosholt

OSU 17-16. Unless Notte throws his headgear from the crowd. I see OSU winning this match.

Feel bad for Rosholt all year he is going to have to just try to minimize damage. Hopefully he can again.

    Starting at 184...

    Chris Perry vs. Eric Schmidtke
1st Period: Circling, a lot of motion, Schmidke trying to tie up a lot, but Perry seems to be trying to keep some space. Probably because of Schmidke's strength. Schmidtke in on a double leg, Perry defends by sitting flat to his butt and locking around the waste like he does. Out of bounds. Perry in on a high single, nothing. Petty in on a double, but Schmidtke pulls him up and almost bear hugs him, but Perry slips around that back for a TD. Perry riding with a leg in on top, Eric comes up but Perry hangs with the legs in. Eric bent over, Perry pretty high, but his feet were hooked well, so he doesn't get shaken and rides out the period.

2nd Period: Perry on bottom. Perry with a switch-ish attempt. No good, trying for hand control, gets it, and he's out. Collar tie, Perry seems a little more comfortable there now. They've both slowed down a little, Perry with a quick shot but nothing. Perry in on a bear hug, Eric manages to get low and fights it off. Period ends.

3rd Period: Eric on bottom. Perry puts legs in right away, Eric stands up and a stalemate ensues. Perry pulls him back into a crab ride, Eric manages to get to his feet again and Perry hangs on again. Another crabride. Perry is generally managing to cover Eric well but without any legitimate turn attempts. Eric gets to his feet and Perry lets him loose. Eric pushing into Perry for the last minute but no shot attempts. Apparently he's not comfortable shooting on Perry. Finally a couple shots in the last 15 seconds, Perry manages to counter one for a TD and 6-1 victory.

197: Clayton Foster vs. Keldric Hall
1st Period: Hall bouncing around a good bit, dropping down and back and forth quickly like a cat. Lot of collar tie stuff going on. They are moving around the mat a good bit. Foster now has a russian tie, almost gets an ankle pick but no. Foster in on a double, cuts to one leg, Hall hipping down into him. Back to their feet, no points. Foster with a single leg shot on the edge, no points. Stall warning on Hall. Foster in on another double, cuts single and gets behind for a the first two points of the match. Foster rides from the side with a leg in and an arm. Period ends.

2nd Period: Foster starts down, gets out quickly. Foster with a nice ankle pick without even dropping to a knee. Hall looks like he's gassing a good bit. Foster with an armbar and a half, but Hall doesn't look like he's going over. Foster with a chicken wing, out of bounds. Hall to his feet and out. Foster shoots for a double but Hall is sprawling well. Foster with another great ankle pick. Foster with a chicken wing, comes around front with it. Period ends.

3rd Period: Hall down, but escapes quickly. Hall with a shot, not really legit but he's now being a bit aggressive despite being obviously very tired. Foster with another ankle pick. Foster looks like he's working for a hammerlock but no Hall gets his arm free. Hall gets out quickly after they had gone out of bounds. Foster with another ankle pick but Hall wisens up and gets free. Foster in on a single, finishes from behind. Match ends 14-3, Foster with 3+ minutes RT.

285: Blake Rosholt vs. Nathan Fernandez
1st Period: Rosholt with a russian tie, but pretty loose and useless with it. Rosholt just got a takedown but I wasn't paying attention so I missed it. Fernandez is flattened. He's working up, but Blake has a leg in and is using it pretty well. Rosholt gets a half and cranks it pretty good. Fernandez back exposed for a second but not enough for points. Fernandez escapes. Has an underhook, but Rosholt not really in any danger. Collar Tie. Fernandez with an shot and in on a low single! He gets behind but can't finish cleanly enough before the period ends.

2nd Period: Fernandez down. Not really doing anything. Rosholt almost successfully tilts him, but Fernandez gets some space between their hips and spins out for an escape. Now they aren't doing anything. Fernandez in on a half-shot single, but nothing. Fernandez with another underhooks, drops down to a head-inside single, but they go out of bounds. I'm impressed by Nate's mobility for a guy as big as he is. this is a pretty entertaining heavyweight match, really. Fernandez tries a duckunder but Rosholt quickly ran away from it as the clock ran out.

3rd Period: Rosholt down. Gets to his feet, working for hand control, Fernandez brings him back down. Rosholt in position for a peterson, but not able to pull it off against the heavy Sooner. Stalemate. Rosholt back to his feet, Ferndandez lifts him from the mat and slams him back down. Hernandez working for a far-side cradle, now switches to other size and trying to leverage the turn. Rosholt with a switch! Reverse! Fernandez tries to roll out but can't! Rosholt in crab ride, holds on for the 4-3 victory!
