So, you are saying that going to Rutgers is a mistake? If he got a full ride like his dad was asking Iowa for that only leave Rutgers with 3.6 scholarships? Hard to build a program that way.

Its a big gamble and the kid obviously has worked hard to get to where he is now. Maybe a miracle will happen and this Winston is made of steel and will get the program going. However, it might take a few years and by then he will be a senior. I don't know but you know Sacchi was also a supposedly outstanding JUCO coach and had many great JUCO wrestlers. When he came to Rutgers he brought some AAs from JUCO with him. However, it didn't turn Rutgers into a powerhouse.

During my years at Rutgers the kids were not overall with a winner's attitude. Most just had fun with it. Tanis did real well his senior year at NCAAs and took 4th but that was an abnormality since even Tanis wasn't even seeded at NCAAs.

It will be hard for Rutgers until they get fully funded. I was wondering why a school would hire a HS coach instead of a top tier assistant like a Hartung, Steiner, Marty Morgan type. Or a proven college coach.

Honeslty I don't think it's a very appealing position for a top tier assistant. You also mentioned the biggy...."Fully Funded", until that happens, no proven coach or top assistants will be making their way to Rutgers.

I am not sure but someone from his home town said he might not be going to college at all? Because of some trouble he got into? is this true?
