I would say Dong is better than any of the guys that beat Stieber. Which out of Patterson, Lara, and Perrelli do you think is better than Dong? Dong would most likely be top 5 right now if he were wrestling. Probably #4.

And I say this being a big Stieber fan.

Just because Stieber competed in a more prestigious tournament does not mean that he personally faced much tougher competition. Dong may be in redshirt, but he's still more accomplished than Patterson and much more accomplished than Lara or Perrelli. Taylor majored Peppelman who finished 4th in Las Vegas losing to #11 Yates and #8 Saddoris, but also beating #4 Sponseller, #12 Salazar and #16 Lester. I think that Taylor has done enough to be favored over anyone not named Hall, Jenkins or Fittery.

I would say Jarrod Patterson's Big 12 title is more prestigious then anything Jesse Dong has done thusfar.

Okay so Stieber lost to a wrestler that won Big 12's but doesn't have as many quality wins as Dong nor has he advanced as far at NCAAs. He also lost to two wrestlers who are barely ranked.
Taylor beat a wrestler pretty badly who has never won a tournament as big as Big 12's but entered NCAAs as the #3 seed for a reason, he's very accomplished. He finished R12 so did not live up to his seed, but his losses to 4th place Lister and Steve Brown are nothing to scoff at. By the way, that was Taylor's first win that wasn't by bonus points and he's wrestled more matches than Stieber.

I'm pretty sure that we can say definitively Taylor is having the better year, so far. Not having wrestled in Las Vegas does not change that because Taylor has faced good opponents.

Jesse Dong was the third seed because it was a cleared out weight and Jordan Burroughs and Dustin Schlatter both got injured. Still, a third seed is nice, but he didn't live up to it by failing to AA. Both guys Dong lost to had never AA'd until that tournament. Dong had a nice season, but the question was who is more accomplished. Winning a bigger tournament than your "rival" wins out. If Dong had AA'd, I'd change my stance.

Level of competition can matter, especially in a big tournament. In consecutive matches, Stieber faced Bonnano, Patterson, Lara, and Perrelli, all guys ranked and expected to at least have a shot at AA honors. David Taylor beat Nick Visicaro, Dylan Caprio, Zach Clemente, Mark Lewandoski, James Vollrath, and Jesse Dong. Only one of those guys would be ranked, and I'm sorry, it's easier to have one tough match in a day then have to grind through 3-4 over a couple of days.

So Logan losing to decent guys elevates him over David Taylor who is simply abusing anyone in his path?

I think you're going to really struggle to find anywhere me writing anything like that.
