Waters pulls the upset 3-1 over Bedelyon to run his record to 19-0. Personally I wasn't impressed, I thought Waters stalled like crazy.
Spent the first period wrestling from both knees which I'm generally not against if the guy is using it to set up offense. Then rode parallel through the second and benefited from one of the quickest two counts I've ever seen after Bedelyon sloppily tried to switch around.
Bedelyon nearly scored a TD with a duck under at the end of the third to send it to OT, but Waters managed to scramble into a 50/50 position.

True Freshman 19-0, beat three ranked wrestlers and anyone else they have put on the mat in front of him. I am impressed. Great start to a college career.
Re: Missouri v. Kent State: Flo Big Live Dual Webcast
Wrestling from the knees must be a strategy Brian Smith has come up with to slow down matches. I saw Tyler McCormick use it to upset Coleman Scott in the Big 12 semis a couple years ago. Not sure I 'm a big fan of it either, but Bedelyon didn't take a single shot the 1st period or try to get an early stall call. I see lots of guys riding parallel these days. My video was choppy so I can't comment on the quick two. As a true frosh I think you do what you have to do to get the win. If this pattern continues throughout his career then I will be disappointed. As it stands it's a good early season win.
