Thread: Penn State v. Hofstra Discussion

Hofstra pulls the upset, 18-15. I've got to give Shifflet and Dubuque credit, ever since they took over they've always had their guys ready to go at the start of the year.

Steve Bonanno was the guy who really won it for them in winning a wild 125 match. Pataky was up 6-5 but Bonanno forced two stall calls in the final minute to tie it, but nearly lost it when Pataky mixered him to his back at the buzzer. Ref waved it off, but then Bonanno got a TD to win the match in the first ten seconds in OT.

    Full results

141: Justin Accordino maj Frank Molinaro 12-4
149: Bubba Jenkins dec PJ Gillespie 10-7
    157: Dan Vallimont dec Jonny Bonilla-Bowman 11-8
165: Ryan Patrovich dec Mark Friend 9-4
174: Quentin Wright dec Alton Lucas 4-3
184: Phil Bomberger dec Ben Clymer 5-4
197: Joe Fagiano maj Andrew Haile 15-6
285: Cameron Wade dec Jordan Enck 4-2
125: Steve Bonnano dec Brad Pataky 8-6
133: Lou Ruggirello maj Tim Haas 9-0

Concerning the Pataky match, that was a perfect example of a ref calling stalling differently at the end of a match when a wrestler has a one point lead.

Pataky wasn't stalling any more or any less than he had been the entire match.

Surprised with the result at 141, maybe Strayer should stay there instead of killing himself to make 133?

Forgot about that, but wasn't Strayer already in the process of getting down to 133?

Interesting - sounds like he'll be ranked soon. Bad luck for Strayer, AA and then the next 2 years freshman take the slot you want.

Hofstra looking strong. 141 - 165 are surprises to me.

I thought Quentin was RSing, I guess he lost at 165 and went up to 174?
