    I have seen some guys that Olympic redshirts that had no business doing so in my opinion.

    Actually missions fall into a different category. They are pretty much the same as military service. The NCAA "clock" stops for that time since the student-athlete isn't even on a campus for that time.

    I thought the NCAA had to approve an Olympic redshirt. Not that they have not allowed anyone (I don't really know) but you can't just say "I'm taking an Olympic redshirt"
