Default Mike Zadick Allegedy Caught Poaching

I kind of debated on wether or not I should post this but it was printed in the Des Moines Register this morning so it's public knowledge. Allegedly Zadick, Dwieza and possibly others were poaching animals. Read the article.

I like hunting but I don't like hunters that can't follow the laws. To me, once you start breaking the law, hunting just turns into killing animals. It's no longer a sport. Sadly many people don't see it as sport and only want to get the big buck no matter how they get it.

Pretty disapointed but not really suprised.

A coach involving his athletes while commiting a crime is uexcuseable. Zadick should be fired.

I tend to agree honestly, get metcalf on staff.

One of the biggest problems with this alledged behavior is that radical groups like PETA love to latch on to a story like this to establish a forum for their anti hunting beliefs. PETA and like minded groups have a history of making something like this seem to be commonplace where the vast majority of sportsmen are extremely ethical and law abiding in their hunting practices. I hope those involved learn from this.

This obviously has no bearing on the top notch program that Iowa is and every other program aspires to be.

In all fairness, lifelong hunters, like myself, also like to latch onto such stories and teach people that poaching is wrong and a cheap way to obtain an animal.

With that said, I support some type of legal mass slaughter of deer here in Iowa, as in many other states as well.

On a more serious note, CoachWhite is dead-on. Illegal hunting is not cool. Hunting seasons and bag limits exist for a reason.

Perhaps a fine, an apology, and community service is in order? Coach Zadick has been a pretty upstanding guy in his community that I can see so perhaps a slap on the wrist.

Does Iowa have a surplus of deer?

We had that problem where I live, the government started handing out a ton of doe tags to recreational hunters. Nice way to get more meat for your freezer for people who are going to be out hunting anyways.
