Seems like a pretty easy case. If the deer are freshly killed and it's out of season, he's guilty. If he has no tags, he's guilty. If he provides legal tags for all of the animals killed, he's hunting legally.

I think "Thom" made a good point in that there is little linking Zadick's alleged indiscretions to those of the Iowa wrestler.

Unfortunately I have had plenty of experiences with the DNR. The whole thing started with an honest mistake which was turned in by us. Search warrants were issued on my house and the whole bit. They found legally killed game meat in my families freezer and wrote tickets on the spot. It all got thrown out in court immediately. The reason they did it was to hope that we couldn't afford all the court costs and agree to a plea bargain.

I was in college at the time and the DNR called my wrestling coach and told him that he should know I was involved in felony activities. Why would they do that? I was not convicted of a single thing, and I did not do a single thing wrong. The whole ordeal cost my family over $20,000 in court fees and years of stress. We could have plea bargained and had the whole thing over with for a few hundred dollars which is exactly what they were hoping we would do.

The reason this is in the paper is to simply add pressure to Mike Zadick to admit guilt if there is any. DNR officers will add pressure wherever they think they can, hence the reason they called my wrestling coach (among many, many other things).

The DNR does not act ethically and WILL WRITE FALSE TICKETS with no proof whatsoever. I was once a big supporter of game officers, but since our experience many others have opened up to me with the same kind of B.S.

DO NOT be too quick to judge Zadick on all of this. It has been deer season for a long time in Iowa and fresh blood and deer hair means absolutely nothing. They found out that he owns a spotlight and insinuated that he used it to hunt illegal at night. That is absolutely absurd. Most deer hunters own spotlights and very few of them use them illegally. Nothing in the article implicates Zadick of any wrong doing even in the least bit.

With all that said, if he is guilty then he deserves whatever punishment he receives. DON'T be too quick to judge.

We have a HUGE deer herd, largely because of overabundance of corn for them and no predators.
I am talking about the 'domesticated '' herds who live in Parks right around Golf courses and have no fear of man . The DNR has a special extended season every two to three years because Deer become so abundant they are coming into heavily populated areas ..IMO, Zadick ws wrong taking his wrestlers with him , period .

[QUOTE=Herkey#1;348584]That's not downtown MPLS though Dave. I was talking about Hennepin Ave.

I'm 5 minutes from downtown Minneapolis & Hennepin Ave, and I've got deer all over the place. They've scraped my young trees and trash my tomato plants on a regular basis. Do a mapquest lookup of Theodore Wirth Park and you'll see what I mean.

I agree with rstrong. There are definitely deer in Minneapolis, and inside the city. Ive also seen deer in downtown DSM as well Herk. Seriously, I have no opinion on this subject as I do not hunt, but I do have opinions on DNR and Law Enforcement in general.

Basically, most law enforcement people I have ever been in contact with are only out for themselves and dont protect or serve anyone besides themselves. Truely is a sad thing.

This story is failing the smell test as it leaves me with more questions than facts. I'll reserve judgement and comment until more information surfaces.

I had a deer run out from between two houses and crash into my right front fender and onto my front hood. There I sat with a crumpled fender and steaming deer poop smeared across my hood as it fled. This happened around 3 am near Lombard/Doyle just out of the Marina District.

I haven't seen any deer in downtown Minneapolis yet, but they are in my backyard almost every evening/morning.

Maybe you should get rid of those salt blocks in your backyard
