Not really. Its one guy constantly being a piece of sh!t to wrestling supporters because he doesn't get what he wants.

I think I may view this from a different perspective than many posters. First, yes, Flo doesnt follow the regular protocol. Well, it is obvious the regular protocol doesnt work worth a shit. You cant see matches, you dont get any personal insight until weeks later, and you dont get anything that is very candid. Having to deal with issues like this all the time with my own wrestlers, I can tell you it is much faster and more efficient to bypass the middle man most of the time if you have some connections. The uproar many times comes from the middle man because it becomes painfully obvious how a little networking can make their job obsolete. Yes, the guy doesnt work well with others in the system. To be honest, I dont think I would work well within a system that the others support that is so ass backwards. The bottome line is that Flo has the respect of the athletes, and does more for wrestling's popularity than any other site has in years.

I disagree with that whole heartedly. It has flash but no substance. Thats just a ridiculous statement. He's just pissed because he can't make any money doing what he's doing.

I love flo's content and I do think they have substance. Dirtyholt is also right in saying that they have the respect of the athletes. This is to be expected. When you're involved in a sport that struggles for attention, of course the athletes are going to enjoy the exposure. martin is a little baby and needs to follow the rules. I'll continue to view the content of his site, I just wish he would follow the same rules everyone else does.

I think the next step Flo needs (and will) take is to buy the contract from USAWrestling and begin promoting events with the tenacity they have for event's they have legal access to. SIDs generally also work with several other sports (Football, Basketball, etc) where contact with an SID is more important because of the volume of interaction between the press and the athlete, so their far from obsolete.

Is it that he's not making any money, or that he's not making as much as he wants? | |

ArmyFan, I've basically said my piece on this. But in short: -- Violated broadcast agreements with the National Duals (he was told not to record and post footage, yet stuff still remains on the site to this day). He asked three different times to video and got "No." Still did it anyway. -- Violated NCAA rules in 2007 on recording matches at nationals. Did it anyway. -- Having already known the rules from the previous year (it's in writing, you have to sign this agreement when you attend NCAA's for a web site), he again posted full matches from the 2008 NCAA Championships. Then blamed the NCAA for not explaining the rules, even though the same video policy has been in place for years. -- Conducted interviews at the World Championships in direct refusal of where the USAW press agent had told him. All interviews were to take place at the competition venue and NOT at the hotel. Interviews were conducted AFTER this was explained. -- Has circumvented the KNOWN policies when interviewing athletes. -- Has posted footage from events where television contracts were in place (Midlands, for example). -- Violated numerous rules outlined at the U.S. Olympic Trials, including trying to go to areas where media is not to shoot/film/stand. -- When confronted by staff at the World Championships and U.S. Olympic Trials, said individual has refused to cooperate, claimed to "call his lawyer" and shouted "freedom of speech" when trying to be shuttled into the correct areas. -- Telling the press agent for the National Governing Body to "don't talk to me" when asked to move from an area media was not to be present. That's professional. To a lesser degree -- Constantly Pulled results from InterMat (first year), including one PDF in which I created myself. Martin blamed an "intern" for the PDF being lifted, said it wouldn't happen again. Results continued to be lifted verbatim from the site. This led to the first Flo diatribe. Rather than doing the work themselves, straight piracy. I know, because in some obscure D1 duals, I would change the pin time by one second. I'd see it show up exactly the same, screen shot it, and change the time back to what it originally was. This is just what I know from my own eyes ... All the NCAA internet regulations require you to SIGN the agreement, so this " I don't know" crap doesn't fly. The USOC/USAW sent a list of rules and regulations to all credentialed media prior to the trials. This was also in the press room. If you don't want to follow the media rules, that's fine, don't request a media credential, take up media space and use media resources or media notes. All these things he does not tell the wrestling community, rather he's made it out to look like he's the victim. Yes, I know they read this site ... they've also threatened to try to sue Schlottke. I saw some of your posts on themat.com, but I won't respond over there. Too many people would rather attack and "miss the point" rather than listen to some legitimate claims/truths. It's not about the content, it's great (especially the user-uploaded stuff), but people need to know there's more than meets the eye here.
