Thread: Most Anticipated Match ups 08/09

Default Most Anticipated Match ups 08/09

I'm currently attempting to come up with a top 10 list where I talk a lot about each match and try and make myself sound really smart. I'm trying to minimize repeats of guys on the list so thus far I haven't been able to finish it out yet. If I'm successful these five matches will definitely be on the list.

    Metcalf/Caldwell
    Ness/Slaton
    Herbert/Pucillo
    Leen/Poeta
    Schlatter/Gillespie

I like the Howe v. Sponseller, and Keddy v. Kirk Smith picks a lot.

With as cleared out as 165 in the Big 10 is this year Howe v. Sponseller may wind up being the eventual conference final. (I'll duck the tomatoes for not including Glasser here)

Howe stayed significantly closer to Gillespie last year than Welch did to Poeta, and he gets to wrestle Pritzlaff every day. Then Sponseller started off great last year and just had a rough go at Big 10's.

Keddy and Smith had two tough grind it out type matches against each other last year. Keddy was arguably the most improved guy in the country last year, and Smith I think is a prime candidate to take that title this year coming off his AA finish as a true freshman.

Another one that I want to see but am hesitating to put on the list is Ness v. Ruggirello since its a repeat. Just to see the two of them work top against the other one. I think Ness probably takes it since he's better from the feet, but it'd still be fun to see.

Given that J. tends to hold guys who are wrestling in the All Star match out of UNO you may wind up having to weight until February for that match.
