I asked the question in an earlier thread, never got a response. Might have some better luck if I make it its own thread...

Tom Brands and Alan Fried seem to have had some hellacious battles in the past, with the edge first going to fried and the clear edge in latter matches going to Brands. Does anybody know the overall series record between these 2?

More importantly, does anyone have any video of any of their matches?

The only time I remember Fried beating Brands was in a Midlands final in about 34 seconds. I believe Tom owned all the other victories

I read an interview with Fried that pretty much went through his whole career. In H.S. he killed Brands on a couple of occasions, even a first period tech once. Seems like in college Brands did turn it around on him.

I college they wrestled six or seven times I want to say. I know Brands beat Fried five times (Fried had six career losses, five of them to Brands), and I know about the quick pin in the Midlands finals where Fried beat Brands.

I've got it in my head that Fried may have gotten him another time when they were in school, but I can't say for certain. I know as mentioned that he smoked him several times when they were both in high school.

Yeah, that's where I got all my Fried info. An awesome interview. From reading it, it seems like the guy was just a step away from something bigger. Unbelievable to think that a young kid could take down John Smith, even if it was just one time. Got to love the fistfight with Zadick, too.

I would have loved to have seen some of these matches. I think somewhere in that interview it says that the cumulative score differential from all of the matches was really close.

I'm not too sure about what the series record between Brands/Fried, but I do know the series record between Trusty/Fried

Lets just say it was ugly.........

Fried is one crazy kid.
