He didn't impress me at all. Looked very much the same guy as last year.
You guys are going to think I'm a bias SOB for this but I don't care. I've probably seen Jerome wrestle twice as much as most of you here. (unfortunately I may see more ISU wrestling than I do Iowa wrestling since I live in Des Moines)

Jerome Ward could be a great wrestler, but he probably won't be. Last year I watched him wrestle Gambrall at the Cyclone Open. He came out guns a blazin. Lots of energy, taking lots of shots, light on his feet, running back to the center, etc...Then it happened, Grant took a shot, got a takedown and Jerome turned into an out of shape wrestler wearing cement shoes. You could just see the confidence drain right out of him. As soon as Grant took him down I knew Ward was done.

When I watched Jerome wrestle Keddy in Ames, he was a different wrestler. He seems to always come out with a little pep in his step. The one of two things happen. Either he believes he can win and wrestles well, or thinkg he will lose and usually does. It's all in his head. He's got lots of talent, but cant get over getting scored on. Once someone scores on him it is very hard for Jerome to get over it and mount a comeback.

Ward is very unpredictable. Either he will place high or go like 2 and BBQ. That's just how I percieve Jerome Ward after watching him alot the past few years. It's all in his head.

Thanks for the pic text VA. Wish I got to watch some wrasslin today.

    Sounds about right about Ward.

Cathell is so much fun to watch, he's still long and lanky at 157 - no idea how he made 149 before.
