A college team can only take so many wrestlers to actually wrestle during the season from what I understand. Can those not recruited still go to the wrestling room to JUST practice at the least? The theory I have is that a college team will recruit a number of wrestlers and still have a few spots open which they will put redshirts. So if you are practicing with a team for a whole season then they may let you have a redshirt spot next season (which is what you were doing the first season but you weren't on the roster) or something and then may be able to actually have a starting position through a wrestle-off, or the other guy gets an injury or something.

Dang thats harsh. I would think that having a few extra guys down there to help practice with the recruits would do some good. I mean just because you weren't recruited doesn't all the time mean you aren't good right? Btw I thought DI schools do not accept walk-ons?

Most D1 schools have plenty of walk-on wrestlers. Although, most of the big programs have a try out to ensure that a walk-on has the skills and ability to be a quality training partner and a potential starter should the need arise. Another issue is that with title IX, some schools have roster limits. So, you'd need to check with the coaching staff/wrestling office to see about that particular schools roster situation.

In all honesty, I think title IX should go suck a big wet cock and bring us all some sandwiches and beer. Fuck politics

Just write the AD or (and this worked better for me ) talk to an asst. coach and ask about walking on and just roll around in the room until you get an answer .Wrestling D-1 as a walk-on is DIFFICULT !! But if you have the cajones -give it a shot !!!
