Default Better Neutral Wrestler: Andrew Howe or Jordan Burroughs

This is the next topic that's going to come up in my three best of threads that I've been working on recently.

I think I know where I'm leaning but since this in my opinion is going to be the match up of the year next year and since both guys are so good on their feet while wrestling very different styles I figured I'd open it up here a little bit more to see what everyone else thinks.

It's tough to answer because I'm not one that think scoring more points from the feet necessarily means you're better. Even so, I would probably expect Burroughs to outscore Howe from neutral as long as he didn't wear down. I think his quickness gives him a little edge, but it's a tough call.

Depends how you look at it.

If you want who scores the most and gives up the least it would probably be Burroughs.

If you want the person who would do well against the other that's probably Howe(imo)

Their defense is almost nearly untouchable in very different ways. Though I'd have to say Howe probably gives up more takedowns.

Even though I think Howe is better and would win, I think the answer is Burroughs.

Although I'm on record as saying that Howe is going to run the table and win two more titles, I'm worried about his ability to create offense against Burroughs. I have a hard time imagining Howe taking Burroughs down. If Burroughs takes Howe down then I'd guess on a 3-2 match in favor of Burroughs.

hard hand fighting is the recipe for beating burroughs...thats what howe has, and it's what Leen, Gillespie and Poeta didnt have 2 years ago.

I believe vais is correct. Chandler could handfight hard, and he gave Burroughs his closest two matches of the year.

I think you guys are overestimating the speed that JB will have up a weight after extensive knee surgery. He scored from outerspace with his speed. AH scores with setups, beatdowns and unexpected countershots(his TD in the NCAA championship match immediately after escaping comes to mind). Howe also improved a great deal between his frosh and soph years adn working with DP daily is just going keep that improvement curve going up IMO.

Howe just completed his soph season 2 months - know improves that much in two months when already at the top level. JB has a lot of work in front of himself given the new weight class and knee recovery, but I doubt he will lose any of his speed.

Howe better not blink. JB can fend off any shot Howe has in his arsenal, but I doubt you can say the same for Howe.

I'm gonna have to go with Metcalf on this one. Definitely the better neutral wrestler :P
