Re: Thorn
Very good Big Ten showing, but he has not won anything yet from an NCAA National tournament perspective. I agree that is ranking earlier in the season was lofty at best. I am hopeful he wrestles to his seed or higher but lets not get ahead of ourselves. Does the name Manuel Rivera ring any bells?

I tend to agree with that. Given Thorn's win at the BTC, he has the ability to win it all, but I'd pick both Dake and Hump over him in the NCAAs.
I also don't believe that WIN, Intermat, or any other site hold any special advantage in rankings. There are people on this website who easily do as good of a job as the "professionals". The difficult part for most people is divorcing themselves of their loyalties.

Not really a similar situation. Rivera tore a knee up wrestling Ruschell in their last dual.
Thorn obviously could still under perform (he did last year), but given that Thorn from what we know is healthy the Rivera comparison really isn't an apt one.

Exactly, Earl does the best job of anyone, and i'm not sure what kind of compensation he sees other than the satisfaction of knowing his are best.

I still remember that match against Ruschell. Rivera tried hard to hide the injury but everyone knew what happened. What a great run he had leading up to that.

I sat between two women in the Gopher section last weekend. Both cheered for Ruschell's opponents, saying, "That's the guy that hurt Manny."
It's too bad because prior to that, he was really tearing it up.
Intramural champ . . . JV stud

He was absolutely unreal that season.
Came absolutely out of nowhere from a kind of middle of the road sophomore year and was like 35-0 before he finally lost a match at Big 10's to coincidentally Ruschell.
