I cant imagine schlatter not being at 149... He just doesnt seem that big. Someone said hes like 170 right now but thats not overly big for a 149 pounder, he's not going to be cutting 20 pounds of water weight he'll probably lose about 10 pounds as we get into the season and whats left will be the cut. This is going to be a growing year for the gophs I hope for big things from sanders thorn and berhow

If Schlatter does go up to 157 I do like the Gophers looking like this for 2008-2009: 125 Sanders 133 Ness 141 Thorn 149 Mason/Mincey 157 Dustin Schlatter 165 Safratowich/Glasser 174 Yohn/Sitch/Young 184 McPhail/Yohn/Geiger 197 Eidensheink/Malamura/Geiger Hwt Berhow/Nord Not sure where Geiger would land but would assume that both Geiger and younger Yohn will redshirt for sure next year unless there is an injury. The more I look at this line-up, the more I like it. If Glasser could go up to 174, that would solidify the line-up and make it a much tougher dual team. 2009-2010 would look like this then I would guess. 125 Sanders 133 Ness 141 Thorn 149 Mincey 157 Mason 165 Glasser 174 Yohn 184 Yohn 197 Geiger Hwt Berhow/Disney/Nord That's a pretty tough line-up right there. Some people might think that Thorn and Mincey look like weaknesses in that line-up but I would disagree. By then Thorn will have filled out nicely at 141 and Mincey is going to surprise some people. I think the Yohn's and Geiger will be young but they certainly have the pedigree to compete against the Top 10 at there weights with redshirt years. Berhow will have added another 20 lbs by then and should be in there around 260-275 by then. I REALLY hope Marty Morgan comes back after one year and works with these guys.

GOD, I keep forgetting about Sitch. Not sure why I keep doing that. And if Yohn wants to make my team, I think some sacrifices are in order. Whats a limb or two in the big scheme of things? I guess I thought the plan was always a Yohn at 174, a Yohn at 184 and Geiger at 197. I thought the older Yohn was a little bit smaller than the younger Yohn. If you say he can't make 174, I believe you though. I smell a pinch in the line-up though if two Yohn's and Geiger have to battle for two spots the next four years. Someone isn't going to be happy.

So you are saying: 125 Sanders 133 Ness 141 Thorn 149 Mason/Mincey 157 Schlatter 165 Safratowich 174 Glasser 184 Yohn (Sonny) 197 Eidensheink Hwt Berhow Could happen this year? I REALLY like that line-up if that could happen. Say what you want about DS being cut at 149 but he has not been the same wrestler with the tank that he had in 2006. The knee is one thing but the cutting is another. Give me this line-up next year any day (possibly switch Glasser and Saf if need be) and I will get you a Top 10 finish at NCAA's. I actually think there is a reasonable chance of qualifying 8 of 10 with that line-up and a really outside shot of 9 or 10 if the stars align themselves. The following year then Sanders stays at 125, Ness stays at 133, Thorn stays at 141, Mincey holds 149, Mason goes 157, Glasser comes back to 165, young Yohn goes 174, older Yohn goes 184, Geiger goes 197 and Berhow/Disney goes Hwt. Thats a pretty solid line-up.

Okay, we will see what happens but 174 is a big hole in my opinion and I have to agree that some of our guys (Ness), (Reiter), (Rivera), (DS), (CP) and (Dretsch) looked really sucked down last year. People can say what they want but none of those guys other than Ness and Reiter finished at or above where I would have expected them too. Obviously CP and Kish were injured so I can look past that. I know I am overthinking some things but when you watch Iowa State finish well ahead of the Gophers last year and their new philosophy of wrestling guys closer to their natural weights, I will be keeping a close eye on that this year.
