Also, Michigan just had an impressive recruiting class. They should be back to being competitive in a year or two.

    The Matchups:
125: #20 Nikko Triggas vs. Sean Boyle
133: Ian Paddock vs. Zach Stevens
141: #2 Reece Humphrey vs. Mark Weber
149: #2 Lance Palmer vs. Mark Boyle
157: Tony Jameson vs. Dave Johnson
165: #6 Colt Sponseller vs. Aaron Hynes
174: #12 Dave Rella vs. Justin Zeerip
184: #7 Mike Pucillo vs. Hunter Collins
197: CJ Magrum vs. #9 Anthony Biondo
285: Corey Morrison vs. Ben Apland

I thought about writing a preview-ish thing, but Andrew Hipps has already written a nice one.

    http://intermatwrestle.com/articles/6429

    My Predictions:
125: #20 Nikko Triggas PIN Sean Boyle (6-0)
    Maybe just a decision

133: Ian Paddock MAJ Zach Stevens (9-0)
141: #2 Reece Humphrey TECH Mark Weber (14-0)
149: #2 Lance Palmer MAJ Mark Boyle (18-0)
    Possibly a pin.

157: Tony Jameson DEC Dave Johnson (21-0)
    Could be worse.

165: #6 Colt Sponseller MAJ Aaron Hynes (25-0)
    Or a tech.

174: #12 Dave Rella DEC Justin Zeerip (28-0)
Zeerip thumped him in Vegas, but Rella's looked good lately.

184: #7 Mike Pucillo TECH Hunter Collins (33-0)
Mike was very close to teching vs. Purdue. He should be close again.

197: #9 Anthony Biondo DEC CJ Magrum (33-3)
Shouldn't be too ugly, though. I'm very pleased with Magrum this year.

285: Corey Morrison MAJ Ben Apland (37-3)
    Maybe a pin.

OK, so maybe I got a little crazy with bonus points. Shouldn't be too close, though.
I'll take Stevens and Apland in upsets just to keep the juices flowing -. Is Paddock cutting a lot ? He is huge and kinda gassed against Ortega ,who is having a truly crappy year for IU, and almost let Matt beat him -he won 6-5 . Also-not impressed with Morrison's gas tank-GREAT for 5 -not so good the last 2 minutes .

Borrelli is in Mount Pleasant turning out great teams year after year. You can go to CMU and compete on a national level and pay a tuition roughly half of what you would pay at U of M. Michigan needs to find a way to keep the better kids at home. Metcalf, Reader, Donahoe, Kyle Waldo at Nebraska, and next season losing Jackson Morse to Illinois and Ryan Nieman to Indiana. Hopefully the new facility they just built will help them recruit.
Isn't Borelli known for having weaker recruiting classes and then just turns out great teams?

I also don't think that Paddock will major Stevens. He might get the decision but Stevens is pretty tough. Overall it should be an easy win for the bad guys. I hate this.

Good calls on both counts. I'll disagree and say that I think Morrison generally does have a good gas tank. Tonight was a HUGE exception. I think he might have been sick. I'll support this guess with the fact that he threw up in the 3rd period and gassed worse than anyone I've ever seen.

To his credit, he did ALL the work in the last period and had nothing to show for it. He finished 5 or 6 leg attacks (on a heavy, that's no small task) in the 3rd period, but Apland managed to take all but the last one out of bounds while only drawing a warning for stalling. Morrison was still fighting, though, despite being incredibly gassed. So, Morrison got the winning takedown, but gave up an escape to tie it up with not much time left. At that point, I think he did NOT want to go to OT, so he took the worst shot I have ever seen on a college mat to give up a TD with about 10 seconds left.

Paddock also looked incredibly gassed. I think he's probably cutting a lot of weight, but it's not encouraging to see him gassing this late in the year.

Hump looked very good. He was going for a tech, but couldn't get the back points. He ended up getting a F2B TD in the last 5 seconds to secure the tech.

Lance looked like a monster wrestling a sophomore in high school. That dude wanted no part of Lance but managed to keep it to a major after being abused (his shoulder is probably dead right now) for 7 minutes.

Jameson won, but honestly it wasn't a very exciting match. I will say that there were a couple controversial back point situations. I think the refs gave Jameson backs in situations where they didn't give the other guy backs.

    Typical Sponseller match.

A nice revenge win for Rella. Zeerip looks huge.

Pucillo looked great. I gotta give his opponent credit though, he kind of figured out Pucillo's offense by the third period and prevented the tech. He figured out Pucillo's Hi-C, knee pick, and brute-strength-I'm-going-to-wreck-you-over-with-my-hips move from the front headlock.

Not much to say about 197. Went about as expected.

    Already talked about heavyweight.

Triggas got the pin in a pretty good match with his signature arm bar/figure 4 combo.

Overall, I thought the refs were very bad. They let a lot of potentially dangerous situations go too long, probably missed several stalling calls, and generally weren't that consistent with their calls.
