Your the only one on here so far that seems to think that way so take that for what its worth. You can only wrestle who they put out in front of you.

BTW, in "like" matches, Thorn is holding his own. Take for example his tech fall of Cole Schmitt lost night who Humphrey only beat 7-3.

Only two people have actually agreeed with you that he's a threat, and one of them is a Minny fan, the other used the word "Feasible" which isn't exsactly a ringing endorsement.

Whoop-de-doo. Montell Marion dominated Jamal Parks. Jamal Parks beat on Mike THorn. Mike Thorn pinned Montell Marion. So pardon me ,if your "like matches" analysis doesn't hold much water with me

All I said is he is a threat, which I feel I have substantiated, you said he's not a threat. I am waiting for you to show me something that would say he's not a threat...is 4-1 a beat down? I guess I missed something especially if it was over a month ago. Parks has since taken a couple losses and Thorn has looked pretty consistent against his opponents. If it was Metalf that was #1 at this weight class, I most likely would not have made that claim but we have a freshman at #1 and a guy that already has a couple of losses at #2 and a guy with 5 losses at #3. I say he's a threat.

    1. All I did was state my opinion, and you then called me a troll and attacked my personal life, apparently because I disagreed with you.

    2. You substantiated it...how? By saying that he "lost close" and "next time I think he'll get him"? How could I have argued with such stout evidence? I substantiated it by pointing out his lack of top level wins.

If the first words of your post start with "I know it's a total homer call but", then realistically you can't get pissed when someone only sort of agrees/disagrees with you. Zapp said he wasn't real title threat, but maybe a dark horse. You started this thread to hear differing views didn't you? Otherwise you would have kept your opinion to yourself.

    I mean...Jarrod king won 165 last year as a 12 seed...Crazy stuff happens.

That's all I'm seeing. If I had to rank likelihood I'd put his chances behind hump and dake and even with Iowa 41, Krom, Parks, Novachkov, Jones and Bailey.

Talk about title chances aside I still am amazed when I watch Thorn nowadays that he was once that same guy from the 06/07 season that got absolutely beat on filling in at 133 for Reiter. Little offense, little defense I remember he got majored constantly. Guy has improved a lot since then.

This year I think he's a guy that can beat anyone in the weight class, but I still worry about consistency issues as I think he can also lose to anyone in the top 8-10.

At the end of the year I think he could be as high as 3rd (despite close wins/losses I think Humphrey and Dake will be the class of the weight) or he could be off the podium.

Overall I think he's a low AA from 5-8 this year, definite AA maybe a title contender next year in a more beefed up weight class.

Okay, I'm not a Minny fan so much, but I really like Thorn's aggressive attitude and improvement. The guy really works. He's not the most talented. He's not the strongest. He's not even the best-conditioned, although he's close. But he's probably the meanest, and the most driven guy in his weight class, and that will take you a lot farther than those other things. I wish him the very best, except against the Hawks of course. If they meet again, I hope Marion rips him a new one in revenge.

I will disagree with you if they end up letting Slaton back.
