You guys missed the "Cael's a sellout" and "Cael's no Gable" chants by the student section which was right near the Penn State bench.

Erwin has always been a head case -he was supposed to be a superstud and never produced -topped it of by getting stuck by Perry in the big 10's -then transferred and had no weight issues he just wrestled poorly-I STILL don't think weight was a big issue-he went out and had never heard of Hamlin and got his ass handed to him -IF Wright were wrestling Erwin would be at 174 -but there was an opening at 184 and he took it rather than do the extra work-he could/should have been a multiple AA at 174 .

Cael pretty much tried to ignore the crowd all night. He didn't look real happy after Cyler got beat and they went to the locker room during intermission.

Some thoughts from inside the arena.

Stardust - you said Marion Looked sluggish. My technical term might be "indecisive". When he didn't finish his first couple of takedown attempts he seemed to get tentative. You folks that watched the broadcast - did the camera angle show that Lynch did indeed get the takedown in overtime? It sure didn't look like one from the stands (might be attributable to the black and gold haze that hangs over the mat in Carver).

The Molinaro stuff was pretty blatant. There was a small crowd buzz after the first one - but by the third time it was obvious what Molinaro was doing. Metcalf responded as you would hope - tossing Molinaro twice before decking him.

Angelfish - you missed a great atmosphere. The announced paid crowd was 8,900; but with students added it might have been 9,500. The student section involvement was possibly the most I've ever seen at an Iowa home meet. The students were very close to the PSU bench and mustered several "organized" cheers like, "Cael's for sale" and "Cael's no Gable". The roar after the Metcalf match was impressive, but the one for Kerr might have been top ten on the decibel level in Carver annals. The funny thing is - it appeared to my friends and me that Brands drew names out of a hat to see who would go at 157. If that's the case - talk about luck of the draw.

I'm taking my son-in-law and two of my grandkids to their first meet Sunday. I hope they have a great time.

Who's the clown who asked if he was Tom or Terry? Tom didn't seem amused.
