In case anyone was wondering, Frank Molinaro, fresh of his decimation at the hands of Metcalf, just beat Kyle Ruschell 6-5.

    Jake Varner v. Cam Simaz

1st Period: Varner in on nice double leg early on and finishes on the edge dragging his toes...2-0 Varner. Varner trying to go cheap tilt just with a tight waist but Simaz fights it off and goes back to his belly. Simaz up to his feet now as Varner tries to lift his ankle and Simaz now grambies away for the escape...Varner with a nice ankle pick on the edge as he drags a foot to pick up the TD...8-1 Varner. Period ends that score.

2nd Period: Varner takes both up. Varner tries his shuck by off the whistle but Simaz runs through it...Varner now with another nice ankle pick and nearly caught Simaz on his back...10-1 Varner. Varner looks to go head scoop for a second, spins back behind and now just runs Simaz over with a brutal half...Simaz fights off his back after giving up 3 backs...13-1 Varner. Varner now going high half, now flattens him out...Varner gets another point for Simaz bending fingers back...14-1 Varner. Now Varner tries to go ankle pick but they go out, and Varner pushes him over as they go out...Varner barrels in on a double now, he's between the legs, Varner has the legs separated, going to try and scoop the bottom leg. Simaz locks in the crotch and its stalemated with 40 seconds to go. Varner with another double leg attempt on the edge but they go out. Other than the 10-3 win over Brester last year at National Duals that might have been the best match I've ever seen Jake Varner wrestle.

Only reason this is #2 and not #1 is because Brester is better than Simaz is.

    He absolutely ABUSED Simaz.

Do I get extra fantasy points for a 19 point tech?

We just saw our first shot (or at least the first one that I noticed) of the match at the 6:20 mark as Zabriskie dropped in on a low single that Arnone rubber kneed out of.

Zabriskie scores a reshot TD as I'm typing this and wins a predictably boring match 3-1.

24-13 Iowa State is the final.
