    You mean with this lineup?

    125 Matt McDonough
    133 Dan Dennis
    141 Joe Slaton
    149 Brent Metcalf
    157 Aaron Jannsen
    165 Ryan Morningstar
    174 Jay Borschel
    184 Phil Keddy
    197 Chad Beatty
    HWT Dan Erekson

Ahhhh. I only typed it because I like to look at it. Sorry.

Do you like your chances for AJ to AA? I also don't think McD, M* or Beatty wrestle to their seeds come NCAA time. Beatty is on one ankle and Erekson is a tad out of shape. That being said, they still look very formidable. I just remember how poorly they wrestled on Day 2 at the NCAA's. If they do that this year, someone is going to get them.

I think that Jannsen has the abilty to be an AA, but there are a whole slew of wrestlers at 157 that are in the same boat. I think he can beat anyone outside the top ten on any given day but he could also lose to them just as easy. He would have to have a great NCAA's to place but he could certainly do it...or not.

I havnt seen anything in McD's wrestling to suggest that he won't live up to his seeding. He has beat everyone that he has wrestled this year and has looked good doing it. If he keeps it up he will place with authority at NCAA's, imo. Who knows where Beatty will be seaded. He will most likely miss the whole Big Ten season meaning he won't likely get a great seed at the conference tournament. And he may not be 100% healthy at tournament time. I hope he is, because there is no one on the team that has shown as much dedication to this team than he has and he deserves a healthy shot at the national tournament. If he is healthy I see him standing on the top half of the podium in March. Erekson may be a tad out of shape right now, but he has plenty of time to get that back. He will be working hard to make up for valuable lost mat time. He proved last year that he is a gamer and under the bright lights at nationals is where he shines. He was just a takedown away from making it to the finals and though he hasnt wrestled any "real" competition this year, I have to think he has made improvements since he still had things to learn about wrestling HWT. His offense and willingness to use it will keep him in alot of matches that other heavies would fall behind in. Beatty and Erekson are two guys that will be "wildcards" at the national tournament, but I don't see any reason, barring injury that McDonough has any sort of a letdown.

Good points...Beatty is on my fantasy team, I for one hope he comes back strong.

....why, exactly? Last I checked, Geiger and especially Disney had proved exactly squat at NCAA starter level. You still have Mason, and he's been kind of underwhelming. The Diechtler thing is unfortunate, but the kid hasn't exactly shown the defense thus far to be a high AA, although I think he likely would AA.

Also, no way Jannsen, or any Iowa 157 AA's. Iowa should have AA's at 125, 133, 149, 165, and 174 definitely, and pretty good shots at 141 and 184. Also, if these guys are healthy, and obviously that's a big if, which is why they're in their own category, 197 and HWT should both AA. In the end I think Beatty won't because of the injury, but Erekson will.

If Minny had "those guys" for NCAA's:

    125: Advantage Iowa
133: Even, maybe slight advantage for Minny in a tourney due to bonus.
141: If it's Slaton, I think it's a wash, but I'll call it advantage Minny
    149: Big advantage Iowa
    157: Advantage Minny
    165: Even
    174: Big advantage Iowa
    184: Advantage Iowa
197: Advantage Minny (assuming Beatty is injured, but Geiger is healthy...and I feel like I'm being generous here)
    HWT: Advantage Iowa

Being very generous to Minnesota, Iowa would still be the better team on paper.

Until Erekson gets on the mat, not sure why you can give the nod to Iowa at all here. I think Schlatter is an advantage over Morningstar but maybe I am in the minority here. If you are giving me the nod at 133, 157 and 197, then I think it would have been closer thatn you call it. That being said, I don't have 197 Geiger coming back so it doesn't really matter.

Wait, wait, so you want me to give you the benefit of the doubt in all these weights, and then put you against Iowa's depleted line up? Yeesh. Erekson is goin back in the line up sometime in the next week, and I don't see how you could possibly give Disney the advantage over him....

Morningstar is ranked higher then Schlatter, not sure what else you could want. Dennis is 2-0 over Ness, but I called it even, or gave you the edge.

Absolutely, I want you to give me ALL possible best case scenarios, of course.

We'll just let them settle it on the mat, where it belongs. Looking forward to March.
