Of all of the matches I ever wrestled that was the most fun I had. It was like playing a game of chess on our feet.
It always looked to me that Espo had one of the toughest gut-wrenches I've ever seen. I actually felt sorry for a few people he wrestled, because they couldn't even get to their base and they looked like they were in pain. Was he relying heavily on that in HS? I'll have to check out the vid.

I wrestled him in Folkstyle at the Senior nationals, but yeah, he was probably even better at Freestyle in High School... I remember him just crushing LeVesseur at Jr. Nats (like 7-2) when he was a Junior and Marcus was a Senior.

Was that the same year Jason Hackett went there briefly?

About Metcalf... is he really that physically strong, or that good at hand fighting? Seems to me if you could just keep him from banging around on your head, you could shut down a lot of his effectiveness. The freestyle guys can do it, but NCAA wrestlers don't seem able. I thought Mueller was actually wrestling well, but the constant physical abuse took his toll and he was done in the 3rd.
