It shouldnt matter the reason he is not on his offense, just that he is not on offense. And if the superior wrestler is causing the inferrior wrestler to back up because of his offense the inferrior wrestler should be hit with stalling. To make the other wrestler stall can actually be part of the superior wrestlers offense.
But is it really stalling if he is simply countering and not backing up?

That depends on whether or not the inferior wrestler wrestles for Iowa.
Just messing with you Herkey...

I actually just watched it a little bit ago. My assessment is that Schlottke was probably better on his feet (though Espo was very quick to capitalize when he was out of position), but Espo was pretty awesome on top and that ended up being the difference.

YES-what is this inferior /Superior stuff ? Both guys weigh nearly the same (the reason weight classes exist ) and we are talking about Div I wrestlers here -Multi state winners and AA's -if a coach ever pulled me to the side and told me to ''avoid getting pinned or majored'' -I'd walk out on the mat -shake hands and lie down and pin myself then hit my coach in his mouth on the way out .

What I remember from that match was that I felt better on my feet and didn't expect to be because he had a sick inside trip but he actually seemed pretty nervous. Overall I felt he was a better wrestler, but I figured at the time I'd have beaten him more times out of ten than he would have me. (because HS doesn't have riding time).
Of all of the matches I ever wrestled that was the most fun I had. It was like playing a game of chess on our feet.

Not really.. I signed to wrestle at ASU.. went down there for a very short bit but D1 wrestling wasn't for me... it takes a completely different breed of person ( by that I mean, to be a National champ you need to be someone much more mentally tough.)
