I think breeze to the finals is kinda a strong statement both OSU and OU will be tested.
RIP Jacob Schlottke; KR1963 and rpayton
Kent State is the sleeper team -if Cathell can make weight and do some damage -Opfer steal a win or 2 , 174 and 65 contribute at all they have as good a shot as anyone -Mitcheff is nails ,141 skitorsgsrgy-is good when not hurt -157 Shuster is a solid wrestler Kilgore is the best 184 in the nation , Cogar is good and Barlow can wrestle with ANY hwt. in the NCAA
Breeze might be a strong word. I'm just ready for the action.
Wouldn't expect to see Cathell ...
Although my guess would have been that they hold him out of their Cleveland State dual this week in order to try and give him more time to get down for the weekend?
KSU has Drexel in the first round. They should breeze through that dual, with 133 being the only remotely "marquee" match with Mytych facing Mitcheff.
What is interesting is their second match vs. PSU. I can see Kent winning. I think it goes something like this:
125: Pataky DEC Opfer (0-3)
A lot of things could happen in this match. Pataky could put up a big score and a pin isn't out of the question, but he's also incredibly inconsistent. A win by Opfer would be a surprise, but not a huge surprise.
133: Dan Mitcheff MAJ Tyler Saltsman (4-3)
141: Adam Lynch DEC Chase Skonieczny (7-4)
149: Frank Molinaro PIN Tommy Safsy (13-4)
157: Cyler Sanderson DEC Mallie Shuster (16-4)
Bonus points aren't out of the question
165: Dan Vallimont MAJ Ross Tice (20-4)
174: Keith Witt DEC Justin Ortega (20-7)
This is a tossup, but I give it to KSU just to help my cause.
184: Dustin Kilgore DEC David Erwin (20-10)
Erwin is kind of a headcase this year. He has beaten some verry good 184s, but occasionally he loses by a big margin. Killer is a guy who can put up that big margin, so bonus points are entirely possible. I definitely think Kilgore will win, but Erwin has shown he can compete with the best when he shows up.
197: Adam Cogar DEC Clay Steadman (20-13)
285: Barlow DEC Wade (20-16)
This would be an upset, I suppose, but it wouldn't surprise me at all.
If Opfer or Skonieczny can pull off an upset and other guys wrestle hard to minimize the bonus points, Kent can win this match.
Kilgore will major or stick Erwin-LeBlanc has majored him at RENO and Kilgore is tough -141 Chase from KSU was in the top 20 before he got hurt -if he's healthy he'll beat Lynch or Pisani. opfer is THE stall artist of all time -look for 5-2 or 4-2 -W Pataky .
