Default Bubba Jenkins asked by Sanderson to leave PSU

This is a very interesting turn of events. I had been talking to a few people @ PSU about what was going to happen next year @ regarding Jenkins/Molinaro/Taylor all competing for a spot @ 49/57. As well what was going to happen with Macchiaroli/Ruth/Wright competing for 84/97. Looks like we have a couple answers!

Well don't think either one had a starting spot next year.

I thought Jenkins did for sure. But PSU would have had Jenkins, Molinaro & Taylor fighting for two spots @ 49 & 57. Someone was either riding the pine or suckin weight to 41.

    Jenkins>>Molinaro.

Glad to see he's focused on graduating first. 15 credits is damn close. Hope he gets it and gets to another school.

I didn't know that Jenkins could just be kicked out from incoming coach. I think thats a crappy think to do to any wrestler. Part of the game or not that just sucks.
I hope Bubba finds a great school to go to..

They just did a story that is similiar to this on OTL on ESPN about Kentucky basketball and Coach Calipari dumping players from the ex coach Gillespie and the fact that scholarships are year to year contracts not 4 or 5 year commitments from the university. Calipari brought in, "his guys" and let the other guys go who were with the former coach sounds like what is happening with Bubba

Always liked Jenkins and he's always been a candid interviewer, but you have to think there was more than what he described. Probably some friction/issues between the two from the get-go... I don't think Cael is going to simply give him the silent treatment then ask him to leave mid semester unless something caused that to happen.

If he didn't want Jenkins around from the get go, why not tell him that before the season starts? Why wait til mid semester and tie up his scholarship for at least half a year?

I did see this quote from Sanderson:

“In our discussions this past summer he was absolutely clear he wanted a year off to heal,” Sanderson said.

Perhaps Jenkins wanted to wrestle this year and Cael didn't feel it was right to either Cyler or Molinaro? Then again you let the best guys wrestle, right?

The one thing I can think of from the above quote is that Jenkins made "absolutely clear" to Cael that he was redshirting before Cyler transferred. Now he wants to come back this year at 157, a scenario that Cyler wouldn't have transferred had he known. Or a clash of heads, who knows - but I'm done speculating...

"Jenkins said he felt the decision could have been made because he didn't fit Sanderson's wrestling style. When Sanderson told Jenkins what to do on the mat, Jenkins said he had trouble executing Sanderson's teachings.
He's a really good coach," Jenkins said. "It kind of came out of nowhere. I still don't know what I did to deserve it."

If, for some strange reason, Taylor or one of the Altons doesn't pan out, will they be asked to leave as well? It's one thing to yank someone's scholarship. It's another to ask someone to leave the team, especially someone with Jenkin's proven talent.
I hope that Bubba decides to finish his degree and has a great final season somewhere.
