    Thanks, kr.
    A little weeding out maybe...
Too bad as he was a good tough kid from NW PA, (Ridgeway High School) & I had read enough stuff in the press from Cael re: Pisani, to think he was going to become an improved wrestler @ PSU.

In some of the communication from Ortega after the LH match, he indicated that the practices over semester break were intense. Maybe some of these kids aren't able to hang, like BOOT CAMP.

    Btw, yer welcome.

As they say, this isn't theMat. We don't have to take your word for it. Do tell us more. You implied before that you thought Jenkins was lazy and a poor student. Is that what you are saying?

Nope...applies to unattached competition as well. Text of rule 8.3.5.4:

"8.3.5.4 A wrestler weighing in two weight classes above an original certified weight class shall forfeit his or her right to return to the original wrestled weight class. This includes preseason competition while a wrestler is making the descent toward his or her lowest allowable certified weight. For example, if a wrestler?s lowest allowable weight class is 149 and the wrestler weighs in at 165, the student-athlete is ineligible to return to the 149-pound weight class. The lowest weight class at which this wrestler may compete is 157."

Not sure where unattached competition not counting is mentioned in that rule...

Jenkins to ODU or Lock Haven?? He apparently told someone sitting in an airport about a month ago he was transferring. The rumor has been swirling around for several weeks. I guess we'll see. My balls weren't big enough to ask Coach martin at the Scuffle last week.

Bottom Line is he's out. It's Cael's team now. I don't think Jenkins fits the mold of the type of guys Cael recruits. Look at some of the problems the program has had in the Sunderland years, then consider the lack of controversial news the ISU wrestling program had in the Sanderson years. I think it's pretty apparent that Cael is no nonsense. Look at his recruits thus far. The Altons are all business, Kemmerer is all business, Taylor is all business, Sam Sherlock is all business, etc... compound that with the guys who are having success there ie. Quentin Wright, Ed Ruth, Brad Pataky, Molinaro. I think he is building a low maintenance team, from a social aspect, that can be focused on winning a national championship. As upset as people are about him asking guys to leave, al least he is going to sign-off and let them go. His alternative would be to pull their money and not release them. This is a very unique situation. He is the biggest coaching name in wrestling outside of Gable and with that comes the want for kids to wrestle for him. For him to continue to give scholarship to guys and miss out on signing the recruits he wants would be foolish. Notice that many of those leaving are scholarship athletes. He needs that money. If things pan out Penn State is going to have names like
Jake Kemmerer, David Taylor, Ed Ruth, Quentin Wright, Dylan Alton, Andrew Alton, Sam Sherlock, Frank Molinaro, Dirk Cowburn in his line-up for the next 4 to 5 years. Kemmerer, Wright, Alton, Alton, Ruth, and Taylor were or are ranked #1 in their weight classes nationally their senior years.

I heard Edinboro. that seems to be a place for mismatch kids to wash-up.
