Thread: Bubba Jenkins asked by Sanderson to leave PSU

Wow, i think cael has put a stamp on PSU wrestling! Don't know anything about PSU wrestling and would hate to throw anybody under the bus but it is shocking. Chertow gushed about Bubba last year on the Big Ten Network like he could walk on water at PSU and now he is gone. I like Bubba with the little I have seen of him on BTN. Here in Minnesota J controls all that gets out about his squad so I spend so much time trying to figure where guys have gone like Atticus Disney, Matt Mincey, Geiger Loppnow and a few others. I follow Minnesota wrestling and have no idea what is going with Mason & Deitchler and nobody else does either or it seems anyway that I find it refreshing to have it laid out to guys like me. I truly hope it works out great for all involved. I would love to see bubba go some place and do well and would love to see Cael build PSU into a powerhouse team as well. With that hotbed of wrestling like PA I would think PSU will be a team on the way up. 15 D-1 wrestling schools in PA the recruiting must be intense

Perhaps Jenkins wanted to wrestle this year and Cael didn't feel it was right to either Cyler or Molinaro? Then again you let the best guys wrestle, right?

The one thing I can think of from the above quote is that Jenkins made "absolutely clear" to Cael that he was redshirting before Cyler transferred. Now he wants to come back this year at 157, a scenario that Cyler wouldn't have transferred had he known. Or a clash of heads, who knows - but I'm done speculating...
A year off to heal means just that. One year = 2 semesters. Bubba wanted to come back to wrestle in Fall 2010. That would have created a log jam next year @ 49 & 57 with Taylor coming off of this year's RS.

Maybe Cael wanted him to wrestle THIS year @ 49 & try & have Molinaro drop back down to 41. That would have been best for the TEAM & that IS how Cael thinks, (but I could be wrong though what Cael wanted Bubba to do.)

This seems like a more likely scenario. I think he wanted to move Jenkins out the door to make room for the incoming recruits that *he* landed. I don't disagree with the decision, however, I think he'd have been better to just let them wrestle off for the spot... Both guys get better, you don't send a tough competitor to another school, and you don't open up to the potential of an uproar.

The only recruit he would be making room for NEXT YEAR would be David Taylor, (as I am sure the Altons will be RSing as well). But I get your point.

If that's true, then Bubba missing weight at the Mat Town Open foreclosed that option. You can only wrestle one weight class below your highest weigh-in of the year, meaning since Bubba weighed in at 165, he couldn't drop down past 157.

I doubt Cael will send Bubba to a top ten school. Wouldn't he allow Jenkins to wrestle at a school that won't be real competition, so as not to endanger PSU's title chances?

Another wrestler leaves the Lions: Colby Pisani

"Lynch wrestled at 141 in place of Colby Pisani. During his postmatch comments, coach Cael Sanderson confirmed Pisani has left the team, but did not elaborate on the reason. Pisani is one of a several wrestlers to leave the Lions this season"

    Thanks, kr.

I have enough inside info to know that Bubba brought this on himself he was asked to leave for good reasons.

And that applies even though he wrestled UNA? I thought that only applied to Duals.
